Man is a social being, he is immersed in society from birth to death.There are several definitions of society:

From the aforementioned definitions of society, it can be deduced that it has the following elements or characteristics:

Every society has its own structure, meaning by it the organization by which each member of society fulfils a certain function for the common good.

Society must fulfil an array of functions for its members to settle and have a sense of belonging. These functions can be Generic or Specific.

Within society are the social classes, which are a form of social stratification, in which a group of individuals share a common characteristic that binds them socio-economically, either by their productive or "social" function, purchasing power or by the position within the bureaucracy in an organization or intended for such purposes.

Weber, considered other elements for the class division: ownership/non-ownership of the means of production and elelments of qualifications (titles, experience, etc)

Marx defines social classes only by to factors: ownership (Upperclass or Bourgeois class) or non-ownership (Working class) of the means of production. Where these two class have as only element of relationship: exploitation.

Durkheim introduced one more element to the stratification of classes: social status.This element is subjective. High class isn't always equal to high social status. Prestige measures the social status of a person: education, cultural achievements, etiquete, etc. Durkheim posed it was nearly impossible to offer social equality but, equal opportunities and education can be offered to everyone so that they can achieve a change in their social status.

A social group (aka organic group) is a group of people who play given roles within society. The people within the group act in accordance to the group's values, rules and purposes.They are the main component of social structure since they are the first ones which put in practice status and roles.
