CSLE +COVA as a Digital Learning Coach

Organizational change won't happen easily, but I can take what I have learned to help lead educators to a new way of learning. By utilizing Crucial Conversations skills, and having an intentially designed plan to motivate educators, I can influence this shift to COVA. I will take what I know about coaching and effective PD to gently guide my district in this direction. Below are a few of the ways I plan to overcome anticipated challenges to my innovation plan. Anticipated Challenges to Implementing CSLE+COVA

In order to get my district and my eductors onboard to learn through my innovation project, I need to re-ignite the learner's mindset, and prepare them to look at learning in a way they may not have encountered when they were in school. Beyond instilling the need for a growth mindset, I plan on modeling this type of learning by sharing my eportfolio and what I have learned along the way. Below are a few examples of the artifacts I can share for educators and district stakeholders to prime them for learning. Click on the thumbnails below to view more.

Preparing Educators for CSLE + COVA

By implementing my innovation project of creating a significant learning environment through a district-wide virtual PLC of all the secondary math educators, I can help provide choice of their learning, ownership of the results and ways that learning can impact their classroom, and voice through the documenting and sharing of their journey with like minded individuals in the authentic experiences of refining their teaching practices. Below is a collection housing the artifacts I have created towards implementing my innovation project. Click on the image to view more.

My Reflection on Learning Through CSLE+COVAOne of the first two courses I took in the ADL program was 5305: Disruptive Innovation in Technology. From the very first week, I was asked to think of a project of innovation for my organization. The idea that I was about to embrace the opportunity of technology, and proactively use it as a catalyst to enhance the learning environment for my district was intimidating. With this choice of project, I quickly realized the responsibility for ownership of my learning if I wanted to see it be successful. Imposter syndrome quickly reared its ugly head at the notion that I had any ability to learn enough or be creative enough to impart real change in my district. I am so grateful that this first course was paired with 5302: Concepts of Educational Technology. One of the most valuable mindsets a learner can have is one of a growth mindset, and this course gave me the opportunity to not only revisit Carol Dweck's book and videos, but to take the time to connect my learning by creating a Growth Mindset plan with my innovation project in mind. The other obstacle that a growth mindset helped me tackle, was the fear of sharing my understanding and learning with my peers and asking for help through collaboration.Would I be able to develop my half-thoughts into any type of coherent idea and project that others would think was worthy of time and effort to develop? In order to do this, I was tasked with developing my voice through blogging my reflections on all my learning throughout this program. More than that, I knew that anyone could read my thoughts, since my blogging is housed in a digital portfolio that is published to the general public. What I have found is that through sharing my voice and reading other classmatesโ€™ voices, is that we have different perspectives and make different connections from the same academic content, and that through communication and collaboration, we are able to piece all of our perspectives together into a greater body of knowledge. The quicker I realized this and that we were all on a team together to be successful in this journey, the quicker I was able to feel like part of a supportive community.
