On the ruins of what was once the United States of America was built the state of Panem. An authoritarian state whose central power - located in the Capitol - exercises power over its various Districts. Twelve Districts. In order to keep the districts under its control, the capitol uses the "Hunger Games" - a ruthless game show, where a girl and a boy between the ages of twelve and eighteen from each of the Districts are let loose in an arena in the wild and bound to confront each other. It's a fight to the death and there must only be one left.
