Quantity and quality of health worker education
General positive attitudes or learners and teachers in Bangladesh. The country as a whole appears to be open to development and progress. Attitudes towards change contrast actual teaching which is rooted in traditional methods and hierarchies. There is a need to modernise the teaching and healthcare systems through innovative approaches and increased partnership work to share knowledge and ideas.
Attitudes towards HPE
Barriers - resources, funding and language. CBE challenges - introduced after graduation, emphasis on memorisation, limited quality trainers available. But attempts are being made through partnerships. Quality assurance - certificate based approaches problematic as individuals may not have the right knowledge or skills.
Opportunities within Bangladesh are limited. More people choose to go abroad due to certainties around career pathways. Large number of doctors so limited employment available whereas professions such as nursing which are less appealing require more employment Lack of CPD available.
