Look, I didn´t want to be a half-blood.
If you´re reading this because you think you might be one, my advice is: close this book right now. Believe whatever lie your mom and dad told you about your birth and try to lead a normal life.
Being a half-blood is dangerous. It´s scary. Most of the time, it gets you killed in painfull, nasty ways.
If your a nrmal kid, reading this because you think this is fiction, great. Read on.

The porch wrapped all the way around the farmhouse. My legs felt wobbly, trying to walk that far. Grover carried the Minotaur horn, but I held on to it. I´d paid that souvenir the hard way. I wasn´t going to let it go. As we came around the opposite end of the house, I caught my breath. We must´ve been on the nord shore of Long Island, because on this side of the house, the valley marched all the way up to the water, which glittered about a mile in the distance. Between here and there, I simply couldn´t process everything I was seeing. The landscape was dotted withbuildings that looked like ancient
Greek architekture-an open-air pavilion, an amphitheater, a circular arena-exept that they all looked brand new, their white marble columns sparkeling in the sun. In a nearby sandpit, a dozen high school-age kids and satyrs played volleyball. Canoes glided across a small lake. Kids in bright orange T--shirts like Grover were chasing each other around a cluster of cabins nestled in the woods. Some shot targets at an archery range . Others rode horses down a wooded trail, and, unless I was hallucinating, some of their horses had wings.

Someone was shaking me. My eyes opened, and it was daylight. "Well," Annabeth said, "the zombie lives." I was trembling from the dream. I culd still feel the grip of th chasm monster around my chest. "How long was I asleep?"
"Long enough vor me to cook breakfast." Annabeth tossed me a bag of nacho-flavored corn chips from Aunty Em´s snack bar. "And Grover went exploring. Look, he found a friend."
"Percy, meet Gladiola"
My eyes had trouble foucusing. Grover was sitting cross legged on a blanket with something fuzzy in his lap, a dirty unnaturally pink stuffed animal. No. It wasn´t a stuffed animal. It was a pink poodle. The poodle yapped at me suspiciously. Grover said, "No, he is not." I blinked "Are you... talking to that thing?" The poodle growled. "This thing," Grover warned ,"is our ticket west. Be nice to him.""You can talk to animals?" Grover ignored the question. "Percy, meet Gladiola. Gladiola, Percy"
I stared at Annabeth , figuring she´d crack up at this practical joke they were playing on me, but she looked deadly serious."Im not saying hello to a pink poodle," I said.
" Forget it. Percy," Annabeth said. "I saud hello to the pink poodle. You will say hello to the pink poodle."
The poodle growled.I said hello to the poodle.
