El “Reported Speech” o estilo indirecto es algo que utilizamos continuamente en nuestra vida diaria. Constantemente les estamos contando a nuestra familia o amigos lo que otras personas nos han dicho, preguntado, ordenado…

REQUESTS, ORDERS
QUESTIONS
STATEMENTS
En el caso de las preguntas la estructura cambia un poco: Suj + ask + if + suj + vb "Do you like chocolate?" he asked - He asked me if I liked chocolate Suj + ask + wh.. + suj + vb "What are you doing?"he asked - He asked me what I was doing Como veis, la pregunta se convierte en una afirmativa y, por tanto, los auxiliares "do, did" dejan utilizarse.
Cuando se trata de órdenes o peticiones (que suelen ir en imperativo) la estructura es la siguiente: Suj + ask / tell + to / not to / + Vb (en infinitivo) "Open the door" He told me He told me to open the door. "Don't drink that" He asked me not to drink that
Para afirmaciones y negaciones utilizamos verbos como: "say, tell, explain..." seguida de una frase. Por ejemplo: "I am busy" - I told him I was busy
