Book's spot

It is set in the 1840s in the town of St. Petersburg, which is based on Hannibal, Missouri, where Twain lived as a boy. In the story we can also see a river, the Mississippi River, or even a cave, McDougal's cave, where Tom will have lots of adventures in.

About the author

The author of this story is Mark Twain (1885-1910), whose real name was Samuel Langhorne Clemens. He was an American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, publisher, and lecturer. His most famous novels are The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and its sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884), which have often been called the "Great American Novel".

About the author

When he was four, Twain's family moved to Hannibal, Missouri, a port town on the Mississippi River that, as we see before, inspired the fictional town of St. Petersburg in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and it's sequel the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. We can emphasise that Tom Sawyer was modeled on Twain as a child and Huckleberry Finn in a supporting role, based on Twain's friend Tom Blankenship.

Personal Opinion

In my opinion, I think that The adventures of Tom Sawyer is a really great book, and although that almost everybody have already read it, is a book that is good enough to read again and again in your whole life. It is a simply story, but it is really funny and interesting, with lot of characters that bit by bit take some protagonism in the story, like Huckleberry Finn, who appears lately in the story, but has a main role in the story going to almost all the adventures that Tom has.

Personal Opinion

So, finally, I can say that this book is obligatory to read at least once in your life, I think that all of us have already read it when we were children, but if there are somebody who haven't read it already I recommend it, because I think that is a book that has something that everyone like it.
