Both factors influence the biocapacity of planet earth what meens, that productive areas that exist on our planet get exploitet and destroyed.

The Ecological Footprint is the biologically productive area required to provide everything you consume.

That includes area used to produce your food, goods and shelter as well as area needed to place the energy for your living standard and to dispose your waste.

The Ecological Footprint is measured in gha (globale hectare). A hectare is 10 000 square meters. Currently our planet has 1,7 gha available per person – that's all the Earth's productive area divided by the number of people alive today.
