This cartoon deals with the problem of global warming and climate change.


The Earth is very sick so it is at the hospital.

The cartoonist aims at denouncing and criticizing human actions and their consequences on the planet.

On the bedside tables we can see medication to treat and heal the planet.
The cartoonist would like to find a solution to cure it.

He clearly wants us to take action and react.

USING CONDITIONALS...

La phrase "Si nous changeons un peu nos habitudes, nous aiderons à la préservation de la planète." est une proposition conditionnelle.
(verbe au présent de l'indicatif) (verbe au futur)
"A moins que nous prenions davantage les transports en commun, la pollution ne diminuera pas." est aussi une conditionnelle.
(verbe au présent du subjonctif) (verbe au futur)

Pour parler de conditions au futur, tu peux utiliser :

Unless (= à moins de / que) + sujet + verbe au présent simple ..., sujet + will / won't + base verbale

ex. Unless we take public transport more, pollution won't decrease / diminish.

USING "BY + V-ing" AND "TO + base verbale"...

Dans la phrase "Je peux économiser de l'eau en prenant une douche à la place d'un bain.", "en prenant" permet d'exprimer le moyen par lequel je peux économiser de l'eau.

Dans la phrase "Pour économiser de l'eau, je peux prendre une douche à la place d'un bain.", "pour économiser" permet d'exprimer un but.

Earth Day, celebrated every April 22, is the most significant day of the year because people from all nations, backgrounds, colours and religions celebrate their similarities : living on Earth.

Earth Day was first launched in 1970, in the USA, and was the birth of the ecological movement. In 2020, Earth Day celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Some people plant trees, others clean rivers or the beach, others take a pledge not to pollute so much.

Earth Day is a time to unite around new actions. Earth day and every day is a time to act to protect our planet.

At home and at work : save energy, use less water, reduce, reuse, recycle, take public transport, etc.
