How TO Create

CREATE Use Content Integration in edio Resources for your course Video Tutorial on how to create your OneNote as a Class Notebook from edio can be found here

STUDENT USE

STUDENT USE Students can use OneNote for anything they would do in a typical binder or notebook. Some of my suggestions are:

  • Print paper copies of notes to follow along with lessons
  • Take class notes in their person student section
    • significantly easier if they have a stylus and 2 monitors to watch and write at the same time
  • Work 1-on-1 with the teacher in a tutoring session
    • can also use for async feedback if a student wants you to check some work
  • Complete any bonus work or corrections for teacher feedback
    • ALWAYS tell teacher when finished - we will not be notified

Organization, Tools & Uploading Documents

TOOLS, ORGANIZATION, & UPLOADING DOCUMENTS There are so many tools in OneNote that can be used, as well as multiple ways to organize. In this video, I make suggestions that I use often but I strongly encourage you to play around and see what works for you.

Student Access

STUDENT ACCESS The first time students access the notebook, they MUST do so from your content integration in your course Resources. This will link their account and add them to the notebook without you needing to give any additional permissions. This is true no matter when students join your course. After they have joined, they can access OneNote from anywhere in your course. They also can use the OneNote app on their computer for access after joining. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Below is an email with instructions I send to students and caretakers on the first day to get them set up. Feel free to copy and use as you see fit. Here is a link to this email template, as well. EMAIL INSTRUCTIONS: Hello Students and Families, In class today, I went over how to access OneNote, our virtual Notebook where I will keep and share ALL notes and resources with you. I know this may be new to many of you so I am including the directions on how to access our OneNote Notebook from our edio class page. The steps and a visual are below. I encourage you to explore our virtual notebook tonight so you are set and ready to roll in the morning. To access our Class Notebook in OneNote;

  1. Go to the Resources tab in our class under Progress on the sidebar.
  2. Click on "Launch in New Window where you see the OneNote icon shown below.
  3. You will be guided to our Algebra I with Shissler Pd 4 Class notebook.
Please let me know if you have any further concerns accessing OneNote before class tomorrow.

SHARING PAGES

SHARING PAGES Sharing pages to students can happen in many ways. You can give students access to anything for them to copy in the Content Library. If you want to give certain students completed notes, or certain pages, watch this video to a quick demonstration.

Help Students Get Started

HELP GET STUDENTS STARTED For many students, this is their first time using OneNote. At this point, they have followed your directions and have opened the OneNote, but WHAT NOW? - How do they copy pages to their notebook? - How do they write in the notebook? - How do they print documents you have linked in the notebook? This video is created FOR STUDENTS so you can see what they see and how they will navigate. If you are curious how a student view works, have a coworker add you as a STUDENT to their class so you can see it. I suggest taking time in your first Unit to very intentionally remind them how to access OneNote and use it in the ways you want them too. You can also share this video or something similar early on to get them into and using OneNote early! CARETAKER ACCESS

CARETAKER ACCESS Caretakers can be given direct links to view your Content Library or Notebook of their student. Please watch this short video to learn how to access the links to share with caretakers. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Below is an email with instructions I will send to caretakers on the first day to get them set up. Feel free to copy and use as you see fit. Here is a link to this email template, as well. EMAIL INSTRUCTIONS: Hello Caretakers, Possibly the most important tool your student has access to for my class is their OneNote Notebook. I sent an email previously with how they can access and use the notebook. I also went over how to access OneNote with them in class and will continue to do so for the next few days so all students are set up for success. I love when caretakers engage in their student’s learning so I want you to have access to OneNote as well. This link, will allow you to view the Content Library. I put all copies of blank notes in the Content Library, as well as Helpful Resources, Bonus Opportunities, and Instructions for Assessment Corrections. Everything you or your student may need access to on a daily basis is there! If you would like to keep up with your student’s personal OneNote notebook so you can see if/how they are using it, please email me back and I can send you a personal link for your student. Again, this link will only allow you to view their work, not make changes, but it is still a great way for you to be involved this year! Thank you for your support at home! I look forward to our year together!
