One of the best-selling books in Spain is "Roma soy yo" by Santiago Posteguillo (180,000 copies sold).

The price of books in general has risen by 4% between December 2016 and June 2021, and the price of e-book downloads (and binding services) by 12%.

Sant Jordi is also celebrated on this day.

UNESCO decided in 1995 to celebrate on 23rd April due to the death of several authors such as William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.

World Book and Copyright Day is celebrated every year on the 23rd to promote the importance of reading.

Accra (Ghana) has been chosen as the World Book Capital in 2023.
