Was wolltest du schon immer über Deutschland und die deutsche Sprache lernen? Willst du deine Fähigkeiten in interkultureller Kommunikation verbessern und fit für Reisen sein? Willst du etwas über die deutsche Kultur und Gesellschaft lernen - abseits von Stereotypen und Oktoberfest? Dann bist du in diesem Modul genau richtig! Hop on board and join our tour through German language and culture.

This module is conducted through German. Throughout the semester, you will perform individual and collaborative tasks to develop your confidence and competence mainly in spoken production but also in written and listening comprehension. The classes are interactive and connected to some independent learning.

No exam! The interactive language classes and your Portfolio work are your only duties... You will get your passport stamped for every country you visit

Each week, students will share a cultural aspect from a German speaking area. We will discover different places in Germany and other German speaking countries and look at different traditions, dialects and cultural aspects of this place. It will be followed by a creative activity (creative writing/games).← Click on the the left to see some examples...

Die deutschen Dialekte! Deutschland hat ungefähr 20 verschiedene Dialektgruppen. Im Süden Deutschlands sind sie besonders ausgeprägt. Verstehst du einige Dialektworte? All you have to do is "SPEAKING IN German" 1h/week minimum! Speak about the preparation of your Culture Time and creative activity, watch videos/series/films... You have a , a ? Then, you'll love working from home, in your sofa with a nice cup of tea☺You're sick of online events? Meet your partner(s) in DCU for a coffee break in German or in a pub ☻ & SPEAK SPEAK SPEAK!↓ Or speak to friends all over the world! Which countries speak German???

Portfolio

e-portfolio

In addition to the Culture Time and Creative activity you will prepare, you will also write a beautiful and unique E-Portfolio. It will show what you learned with your group, in the module and all the Culture Times experienced during the class. It is A very CREATIVE work... Have FUN! ☺

The E-portfolio is for life, you can share it to impress your future employer or add the link on your CV to show evidence of your intercultural and language skills.

The E-portfolio should show evidence of practice between seminars, ability to reflect on cultural experiences, personal work. It will be in 3 parts: 1. New vocabulary and phrases learned (organized in a logical way of your choice). 2. The Culture Time programme (weekly diary): Write/record/film a reflective diary, each week reflecting on your learning about cultures in German-speaking countries. 3. The CV in German (personalised). Creativity is the key!
