a. How did you learn about other cultures when you were in school?

- books and movies (for example "L.A. Crash", "The Long Walk Home", "Bend it like Beckham", "Big Bang Theory" , "Slumdog Millionaire" --> every movie shows some cultural aspects (for example the landscape or the way people dress)
- Germany: each school year focuses on a certain culture (for example year 5: Great Britain; year 6: USA etc.)
- focus on other cultures in History class

b. How are you studying about other cultures in your current studies?

- Aseel: first cultural project
- Malak: Literature courses (Poems: British and American cultures)
- Jana: semester abroad in the US, living abroad in England, travels, seminars (USA culture, American History,
Drama Activities, New York City History and Culture, Brexit Britain)
- Hannah: Seminars (Incultural Communicative Competence, UK in text and film, History of great Britain)

c. Write up the points that you all have in common.
- Focus on American and British culture --> Western English-speaking countries
- learn culture through Literature (Poems, films)

d. How would you integrate the topic of other cultures into your teaching now and in the
future?

- different media: podcasts, films, books, biographies
- theatre play (for example invent dialogues), write poems
- invite a person with a certain cultural background
- Cultural Days: 4th July --> American Day in School
- Pen Pals from partner schools
- implement cultural rountines in the classroom (for example learn some facts about a certain culture by heart and then be ready to present them at the beginning of a lesson
- present cultural aspects like "news" in each lesson
- gather information from a newspaper in a certain country

How to play the game

The player gives the color of the object as a clue. For example, if the player chooses the "classroom sponge", they say, 'I spy with my little eye something yellow'. Players take turns to call out guesses until someone gets the right answer. The first person to guess correctly gets the next turn to choose an object.
