Function of the Texas government

State

Legislative

makes state laws, set taxes, fund the government, passes bills, controls spending policies

Executive

oversees Texas state agencies, sets policies for state hospitals, colleges, prisons, natural resources, carries out the laws

Difference between state and local government

The state government is responsible for making and carrying out state laws. It oversees the different agencies of all the counties in the state.


The local government makes decisions that affect the local residents and businesses directly, and makes local laws.
