CSLE + COVA // Making change

disruption & innovation

connecting the dots

We know we need innovation to prepare our students for the digital future. How best to provide that innovation is the perpetual question. The foundation of my innovation plan is grounded in pedagogical research of combining disciplines and can be viewed here with my literature review: Connecting the Dots with ePortfolios Through this experience, I constructed my own ePortfolio by expanding on work I previously completed and adding new features to create my brand as a digital learner and leader. I built content including a Home page with contact information, learning manifesto, and my learning philosophy. I have a Teaching page with how-to videos, examples of websites and apps to use, a Learning page that I will continue to construct, and a Blog page for ongoing reflection. mrscliffnotes.comThe COVA framework is evident in every step of my journey. Taking ownership of my learning and finding my voice as I explore the core concepts of learning in a digital age is front and center: Learning Manifesto Growth Mindset Plan

Disruption & Innovation

Info

It is crucial to consider the why, how, and what of our goals. Practicing proven leadership skills, learning how to communicate with others effectively, finding key influencers to join me, overcoming resistance to change, and offering constant encouragement through innovation cycles is ongoing. Leading change requires influence, execution, and communication. My Why, How, & What Leading Organizational ChangeSignificant learning environments make good use of the COVA framework (Choice, Owndership, Voice, Authenticity). This includes engagement, connections, innovation, growth mindset, and more. A significant learning environment is based on a strong learning philosophy of constructivist theories; it uses big goals and backwards design that allows students to be active participants in their learning. When incorporating technology into the learning environment, it is important to do so in a significant way. COVA

CSLE+Cova // Making change

Info

Creating significant learning environments for online instruction might look different in design, but educators still must apply appropriate learning theories, meet curriculum standards, and align instruction/activities/assessments. All while emotionally connecting with students to help them develop a lifelong love of learning as critical thinkers and problem solvers. Using ePortfolios to connect all of those dots is one way to create that significant learning environment. CSLEInstructional design does not stop with my classroom. I have also learned in this program how to effectively engage a group of my peers and colleuges in professional learning. To do this it is important to remember that professional learning needs to have ongoing time, support, active learning, opportunities for material to be modeled, and should be specific to my audience. Professional LearningePortfolios in action

Instructional design

Part of being an effective teacher and innovator is ongoing formative assessment. Is each student learning? Are they engaged? What are they learning? Sometimes we know right away if a method is effective or not, but other times it takes intensive study to determine efficacy. Assessing digital learning through action research is just that - an intensive study in which educators measure the effectiveness of their own practices. Based on results, I can plan for improvement, and base next round of research on findings in a cyclical nature. Action ResearchIt is also important to explore and evaluate environments and resources. The number of available digital tools is constantly increasing, so I need to be able to find ones that are valuable and help transform student learning. Part of being a leader is discussing the practical implementation and pedagogical value of environments and resources for educational use. In this program I have found my voice and passion and communicated my thoughts. Digital Learning Environments

Learning & digital tools

My students learn with me in 2 year loops. This provides unique opportunities for relationship (and ePortfolio) building!
