The 'How' of learning

The mode of delivery

The mode of delivery will be blended learning. Everything the learner needs to recall and all basic concepts go online. Class discussions, group work and practical skills demonstrations take place in class, allowing for more flexible learning. This flexibility is paramount for the diverse FET learner as they juggle family and work commitments (SOLAS, 2020).

The format

At this stage, informed choices are made about the formats and weekly breakdown of the module. Select the shapes to see the activities and the different ways I will showcase my content. The content is chunked with mini pieces provided to learners with optional extra content enabling students to take a deeper dive into the subject. In this link you will find an example of content I have created using Book Creator.

Content 1 Week 1 A video and a case study are provided before the next class. Content is housed in an eBook where information is chunked and further resources provided.

Polling, feedback and forums Mentimeter is used as a polling tool to gain student insights about their learning while Microsoft teams is used as a forum for instant text questions and answers.

Activity 2 Interactive Quizzes Students can check their understanding of the multimedia resources by completing quick 'test your knowledge quizzes. Here, Genially and H5P are used.

Face to face delivery The sessions are utilised for group discussion, questions and answers and practical skills demonstrations.

The flow

The flow model chosen is linear. This linear approach creates a step by step healthcare programme that integrates a range of media into a chronological course. The rigidity and highly structured design of the programme is best suited to the FET learner who may need guidance and scaffolding (Maloney, 2020).

At this stage, we can make informed choices about the formats and tick the formats that you can possibly use for the programme.
