Among the priority areas by 2030 in the renewed European Agenda for Adult Learning (November 2021), to address the need to significantly increase adult participation in formal, non-formal and informal learning, we can highlight the following: • accessibility and flexibility to adapt to the needs of adults • quality, equity, inclusion, and success in adult learning (emphasizing the professional development of adult learning staff, the mobilities of both learners and staff, quality assurance and active support to disadvantaged groups) • the digital transition and related skill needs. To help to achive both, the objectives of our INTERACTE K2 PROJECT (Interactive Use of Technology for Adult Education) and the objectives of CEPA SAN ILDEFONSO LA GRANJA, we have proposed to use the European survey tool SELFIE.

SELFIE. WHERE DOES THE IDEA COME FROM?

Adult learning, a focus topic of the European Education Area for the period 2021-2030, contributes to improving social cohesion and promotes active citizenship. To acquire and develop the Digital Competence in the European adult population helps them to enhance their employment prospects, develop personally and obtain transferrable skills, such as critical thinking

HOW? PLANNING.

SELFIE is modelled primarily to formal learning contexts. CEPA San Ildefonso carries out non-formal courses and. So, first, we have to explore how the SELFIE approach and the questionnaire can relate to adult learning and non-formal learning. These are two examples selected from the Electronic Platform for Adult Learning EPALE

At CEPA San Ildefonso La Granja we have have decided that the education level that fits us better is Primary. We have also customized SELFIE to suit our particular situation selecting and adding questions and statements. We have had a first session (18 Oct 2021 - 29 Oct 2021) and we'll have a second one in June (30 May 2022 - 10 Jun 2022)

SELFIE is an excellent tool to understand how we are using digital technologies and what actions we could take, in each partner organization, to improve adult teaching and learning. SELFIE is customisable and we have to tailor it to meet each organization characteristics. This is one of the objectives of INTERACTE, to carry out a plan based on the SELFIE approach

Qualitative and quantitative data: SELFIE.

DATA COLLECTION.

The qualitative methodology intends to understand a complex reality and the meaning of actions. On the other hand, the quantitative methodology seeks to obtain accurate and reliable measurements that allow a statistical analysis. We have used them both.

To enrich this information and to devise an action plan to meet their needs and interests related to the ICT, we have also gathered quantitative data. The SELFIE survey has been the source of them. Moreover, we have also used SELFIE to gather more information about how our students are involved in the CEPA European dimension and in its consecutive European projects. We have devised two specific questions with this objective...

Our organization is a small one. One of the advantages of it is that we know each other fairly well. Every day classes, conversations in pairs or groups, observations, their views... are an important source of qualitative data. We have a deep understanding of our students interests and needs in the field of Digital Competence , and in some others, as how they experience and feel the European dimension in our organization.

The CEPA PEC (Proyecto Educativo de Centro / School Education Project) includes a line of action to promote the involvement in European projects, fostering students and teachers mobilities.

TWO SPECIFIC STATEMENTS.

Our adult school promotes collaboration with other European adult education orgsnizations by means of ICT.

  • There quite some STRONG aspects and areas we have to foster.
    • But there also a few WEAK areas and aspects we have to face:

  • 3. Creation of digital resources.
  • 4. Use of virtual learning enviroments.

MIDDLE TERM

Get the highest level of recognition (level 5) by our Education Administration (Castilla y León). We'll start in September a new CPD focused on it.

MIDDLE TERM

Get the Erasmus Acreditation (Next school year Oct 22). We'll start to think about our application in June 2022.

SHORT TERM

WHAT TO DO? ACTION PLANS.

A CPD 30 hours COURSE, devised and carried out by the CEPA staff as WORK GROUP (Nov 2021 - Feb 2022). "ICT resources and tools. Didactic use in the virtual classroom"

Intermediate and final reports. New ideas and projects.

REPORT AND NEW IDEAS.

Finally, as with all qualitative or mixed methodologies, this experience can not be directly transfered to other organizations and realities. But it could be motivating, inspiring, encouraging... for others, and we are sure that our partners' experiences we'll be all that for us. We'll talk about it on Thursday

We have the second SELFIE survey (same teachers and students) in June (30 May 2022 - 10 Jun 2022) The final report will be then done and shared with our INTERACTE partners.

As we have explained, action researches in Education are not linear, they are cycles where the final phase and report implies new challenges. All ideas will be really welcomed

We can consider this presentation (in fact it's been made with one of the tools for interactive educational use covered by the CPD course) as an intermediate report of this action research project: SELFIE.
