Andrew Watson (24 May 1856 – 8 March 1921) was a Scottish footballer who is considered to be the world's first black person to play association football at international level and also to be the first black person who got paid as a professional player. He played three matches for Scotland between 1881 and 1882.
In 1908, for the first time, football was included in the London Olympic Games. At the end of the tournament, Great Britain came in first place, Denmark in second place, Netherlands in third place and Sweden in fourth place.
This change has helped the sport gain more recognition as an actual sport, and not a simple game.
These happened, because, before that moment, the football was really "just a game". And this game was extremely violent, whithout any rules...In resume, it was a mess :
- each school had their own rules and codes- ;
- the ball didn't have any official shape ;
- the game could took place in the street.
