Tricia Fuglestad is a national board-certified elementary art teacher with 30 years of experience. She is also an author, illustrator, animator, and artist from Hoffman Estates, Illinois. With a master's degree in K-12 tech integration, she has successfully blended digital and physical art techniques in her transdigital lessons, available at fuglefun.com. Her innovative approach aims to expand the curriculum, provide students with opportunities to explore new media, and find transformative ways for them to dynamically demonstrate their learning. Tricia's classroom has been featured in educational publications and higher education textbooks. Her students' Fugleflicks, student-created art-related videos, have been screened at international film festivals and have received multiple contest wins and awards. Throughout her career, Tricia has been recognized with numerous state and national awards for her innovation and dedication to art education by organizations such as NAEA, IAEA, Golden Apple, PBS, Artsonia, and ISTE. It has been her dream to engage children worldwide with captivating books that blend her teaching experience, artistic talents, and the transformative power of augmented reality, making reading immersive, imaginative, and truly (Fugle)fun. PBS Teachers Innovation AwardTricia was one of 10 teachers chosen nation-wide in their first annual PBS Teachers Innovation Awards. Golden Apple Teacher of Distinction 2012Tricia was awarded this honor through the Golden Apple Foundation after nominations, interviews, and site visits to her classroom. Western Region Art Teacher of the YearTricia was awarded this honor through the National Art Education Association. The nomination was reviewed against teachers in a number of states. She was awarded at the 2013 NAEA conference. See the Chicago Tribune article here.

Art Education Technology Award for Outstanding Community Service Tricia was awarded this honor following a year of coping with a family emergency by pouring energy into developing lessons for art educators. The award was accepted at the NAEA conference. Learn more in my blog post.

Illinois Art Teacher of the Year 2011Tricia was awarded the highest award for teachers through the Illinois Art Education Association.
