EBA Beira Aguieira School

The construction of the Sé Velha began in 1146. The beginning of the XII century. This church is a combination of several styles, namely Gothic, Romantic and Renaissance. It is one of the city's great historical attractions. It was in this church that the second king of Portugal, D.Sancho I was crowned ( in 1185). This is also the only romantic cathedral in Portugal. The final date of this construction is not certain as it has undergone several restorations over the years. A curiosity about this place is that in front of this church they hold student serenades at the University of Coimbra

2nd stop/Jardim da Manga

Jardim da Manga, also known as Claustro da Manga, is located in the parish of Santa Cruz, in the city, and district of Coimbra, Portugal.This public patio is located at the back of the Monastery of Santa Cruz in the city center. Manga Garden, Coimbra, it is one of the first entirely Renaissance architectural words made in Portugal and its structure is evocative of the source of life.

The first records of 1545, the rector ordered the watchmaker Pêro Francisco a clock for the tower, however the first clock that gave teaching hours in coimbra came from lisbon to Santa Cruz this clock was ordered by D.manuel abroad the clock was the first to measure the time of classes ( one hour per subject) the king asked the king to transfer the clock from lisbon to coimbra because there could not bea good order for a clock, in 1561 João Ruão was ordered to destined for the watch and would have a dial with a single hand designed by the university for theoutside.

Jardim da Sereia or Santa Cruz Park, Coimbra. It is located in Praça da República and admission in free. Relax and take a peaceful stroll through Santa Cruz Park in Coimbra, Portugal. The Santa Cruz Park, better know as Jardim da Sereia, was part of the Santa Cruz Park Monastery and dates from the 18th century. 5th stop /Botanical Garden

The garden was created with the aim of complementing the study of Natural History and Medicine at the University of Coimbra. Marquês de Pombal, was the main driver of its construction, in 1773, Spread over several levels, staircases and avenues, it is one of the most renowned botanical gardens in the world, allowing a journey to the four corners of the Earth, due to the diversity of plants it has.

IT was created by architect Camilo Cortesão project June- 10-2004. The creation of the Parque Verde by Mondego marks the turning point for a new way of living Coimbra.This park is a young and familiar point of the city.

7th stop /Biblioteca Joanina

The Joanine library is an 18th (XVIII) century library, located in the palace of schools of the University of Coimbra. The library replaced the former University bookstore house which was erected in 1717 by Dom João V in the middle of the century of lights. In this library are kept the exemplary books of ancient european literature . Curiosity This library served as a fundamental exemple to the illustrated library, in the animated film Beauty and the Beast.

Choupal was finally planted, having as its first function the fixing of marginal lands and, later, the diffusion of the floods through the valleys that cross it.

Choupal is one of the ex-libris of the city of Coimbra, often sung by poets and writers who, like so many others, found a leafy retreat there. Its origin is closely linked to the actions developed at the end of the 19th century. XVIII, to mitigate the effects resulting from the silting of the Mondego River.

Forum Coimbra is lorge shopping center located on the Santa Clara pleteau , on the left bank of the Mondego river that crosses the city of Coimbra , in Portugal . The fórum Coimbra shopping center began constrution in may 2004 and was inaugurated on April 26 , 2006

Coimbra's downtown" A Baixa", is also the historic center of the city. The name "Baixa", comes from a division between the "Alta"(uptown) where the Nobility and Clergy used to live and the Baixa where the commerce and the hadcraft was presented. In the old days people from the 3rd class and merchants would alson gather here.Now a days, there is no difference, both of them are important to the city.Restaurants, Pastries, souvenirs stores, the Dom Pedro V church, the municipal market and the Coimbra's-A train station are also located here.
