Conflicts are :
Not a problem
Conflicts are not inherently bad or destructive. Conflict becomes destructive when parties resort to any form of violence.
Part of change
Conflicts are natural social phenomena and important drivers of change. Conflict is a normal part of development, when it is necessary to for example change oppressive power structures or address injustice.
Visible or Invisible
It is easy to notice manifest, open conflicts, as they are accompanied by different forms of visible violence. However, conflicts can also be less visible. Such latent conflicts might be just as destructive
Not inevitable
Factors that may lead to conflict take time to take root. There is rarely a single cause but many interconnected issues. Conflict moves through different stages of escalation and de-escalation in a non-linear fashion.
