How HIV works?

• in the 1800's

• through sexual relations
  
• using or sharing needles for drug injections
• from a mother to her baby during pregnancy, birth, or breastfeeding
• rare ways : oral sex, workplace, medical care, food contamination, touching

Where does it come from?

How can you get it?

• from chimpanzee
• symptoms : fever, chills, rash, fatigue
• the only way to know if you have HIV is to get tested

Prevention

Basics of HIV Prevention

• Use Condoms
• you don't get HIV if you don't have contact with body fluids
• highly effective
• PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis)
• people at risk for HIV take it
• highly effective
• PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis)
• emergency situations (72 hours after)
• Get Tested & Treated for Other STDs
