Hyde Park is the largest royal park in England. It is next to Buckingham Palace.

It was created in 1536 by Henry VIII for hunting. A lot of jubilee events take place here due to its size and proximty to the palace.

At the end of the building is Elizabeth Tower which is more commonly known as 'Big Ben'.

This is one of the most famous squares in London. It is named after the Battle of Trafalgar which took place in 1805.


It is the home of the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery.

This is called Nelson's Column.It was built in honour of Admiral Nelson who died in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

OXFORD STREET & REGENT STREET

They are the main shopping streets. Regent street has very expensive designer shops and Oxford Street has highstreet shops. At Christmas there are Christmas light displays.

The main catherdral in London. It was built in 1675. It was the tallest building in London until 1963. Lots of important services take place there, including jubilee and birthday celebrations for the Queen.

The Tower of London is an ancient fortress in the middle of London. It was built in 1066 by William the Conqueror.It was a palace and a prison.


Many people were imprisoned, tortured and executed there. At the same time, Kings and Queens had their coronations and weddings there.
