The USA is located on the continent of North America, from the ATLANTIC in the East to the PACIFIC ocean in the West and from Canada in the North to Mexico in the South. it's washed by the Atlantic Ocean to the East and by the Pacific Ocean to the West.

The USA is a confederation OF 50 STATES. Two states are separated from the other states, they are Alaska in the west of Canada and Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean. Alaska is the biggest state. RHODE ISLAND is the smallest state, situated in the North-East of the USA, on the Atlantic Ocean

Political Identity

The American flag is red, white and blue. It has seven red stripes and six white stripes. It also has 50 white stars on a blue rectangle. It is called "Stars and Stripes" the 50 stars represent the 50 states and the 13 stripes represent the original 13 colonies, which became the first 13 states in the 18th century.

There are 50 states in the USA, if you look at the American flag you will see 50 stars, one for each state, but many years ago there were only 13 stars. These stars represented the original 13 American Colonies.

Statue of Liberty is on a small island near New York City. It welcomes people to the United States from around the world. The word LIBERTY represents FREEDOM. Many people have moved to the USa in search for a better life and freedom.

The land is varied, from the warm beaches of Florida to the frozen lands of Alaska and from the Midwest prairies to the Rocky mountains. It can be divided into 3 regions: the East, the Centre and the West.

Geographycal features of the U.S.A

The East of the USA changes from the South. On the border with Canada, in the North, there are the GREAT LAkES and the famous NIAGARA FALLS. Going down there are the APPALACHIAN Mountains, that start in Canada and finish in a Georgia. The West is a land of extremes. In California there are deserts and the highest mountain is Mount Mckinley in Alaska. The lowest and hottest point is in the DEATH VALLEY, in California. In the West there are the Rocky Mountains that start in Canada and finish near the border with Mexico. The famous Yellowstone National Park is in the Rockies.

Washington DC is the capital city of the USA. It was named after the first president George Washington. The letters “D. C.” stand for “ District of Columbia”, that is not a state but it’s a special area. It is also the seat of the National Government. The White House is the official President’s residence. The first President to live in the White House wasn’t Washington but John Adams.

He was born in Scranton (Pennsylvania) on November 20, 1942, worked briefly as a lawyer before devoting himself to politics. He became the fifth youngest United States senator in history, and the longest-serving Senator in Delaware.
