EXPANDABLE BALL, CALMING BREATHING BALL FOR KIDS

EBI Praia da Vitória, Margarida Paim, Azores-Portugal

Relax and calm your mind and body with this breathing ball technique that is designed to bring the body into a state of deep relaxation. Great as a visual aid for breathing exercises for children and adults. Also used for Yoga. How It Works - Hold the ball in front of your belly, take a deep breath as you expand the ball, exhale slowly as you contract the ball.

Katya Mincheva, kindergarten "Prikazka" city of Varna, Bulgaria

This relaxed game is a favorite of three-year-olds. There are pictures on the floor depicting children playing calmly - drawing, playing with cubes, arranging puzzles ... The children first caress their friend's hair, and then sit on the chairs and move their toes.

Soap bubbles

This is a fun activity that works for both toddlers and slightly older children. With babies, you can blow soap bubbles around the little one, so he gets distracted by the colors and bubbles falling apart and ends up forgetting to cry. The older ones can blow the bubbles themselves, taking a deep breath and thus calming down.

Pot of Calm

* Write a introduction here *

Lurdes Ferreira , Lixa Kindergarten, AELixa - Portugal

  • 1 glass jar or bottle with lid
  • 1 or 2 tablespoons of glitter glue
  • 3 or 4 teaspoons of glitter
  • 1 drop of food coloring
  • Hot water
The goal is to distract them with the paint and glitter moving around inside the container. So they focus on the glass, turn their attention to the effect, and have time to breathe and calm down.

Mindfulness

Minfulness is a technique to reduce anxiety. It is a technique that I use daily before starting the daily activities. It focuses on breathing, and is done while listening to peaceful music. I will say short sentences in a soft and low tone, appealing to feelings of relaxation. At other times I appeal to the performance of slow movements. The most important thing in this technique is deep and slow breathing.

Calm Aquarium

This aquarium was created in a project about the environment, however the children started to use it to calm down. It is similar to the pot of calm. When children feel agitated, they shake the aquarium. When they start to feel calmer, they stop agitating it and focus on their breathing and the calm of the seabed that they can observe through the aquarium.Isabel Mota, EBI Praia da Vitória, Lajes, Portugal

Kristiine-Teele Satsi & Nele Pihlak, Tallinn Kindergarten Pääsusilm, Estonia

The children sit in a circle and the teacher turns on meditation music. First, the teacher asks the children to be very quiet and close their eyes. The children then raise their hands and the children pat them on their cheeks, nose, abdomen and legs. After that, the teacher asks the children to inhale through the nose and out through the mouth, at least 5 times. The teacher shows the children a feather and how quietly it falls to the floor. The children watch everything quietly. The teacher goes to each child and the child can blow the feather and watch it fall. The teacher instructs the children to listen to the silence (can you hear the feather falling). This technique helps children focus on peace and teachers them to listen to silence.
