Dalton's atomic theory
Drawings of various atoms and molecules from Dalton's A New System of Chemical Philosophy (1808).
In 1803, John Dalton invented the theory of atomic following various scientist experiments, to try to explain what the universe was made of. At present, his theory is still used, with some modifications following his errors.
The ancient Greek philosophers tried to explain more or less what the universe was made of using speculation and simple thinking without scientific experiment. This will give rise to atomism, a theory that will later be rejected because it contains many errors and uncertainties.
