Constelação de Tucano (Tucana). Fonte: Stellarium. A constelação do Tucano (ilustrada pelo Tucano-de-papo-branco) — é uma homenagem ao pássaro sul-americano. É uma das doze constelações concebidas no final do século XVI por Petrus Plancius a partir das observações de Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser e Frederick de Houtman.

Constelação de Pavão. Fonte: Stellarium. A Ilustração inspirada no Pavão Indiano ou Pavão Azul (Pavo cristatus) e a constelação foi criada por Petrus Plancius. Sendo registrada pela primeira vez em um mapa celeste por Johann Bayer, pertencendo deste modo a Família Bayer de Constelações. Além do encanto pela beleza das aves austrais, Bayer pode ter se inspirado no mito grego que explica os olhos do pavão. O pavão mitológico era sagrado à esposa de Zeus, Hera.

Ela observada pela primeira vez em um globo celeste elaborado por Petrus Plancius (1552-1622).

Um dos mitos gregos diz que o corvo já teve penas brancas, mas tudo mudou quando a ave revelou a traição de Corónis ao deus Apolo. Durante um ataque de fúria, o deus do Sol e, também, marido de Corónis teria transformado o corvo em uma ave negra.

The Swirl Galaxy, also called Messier 51a or NGC 5194, is a spiral galaxy. It is the brightest of the galaxies that make up the M51 Group. M51a has a companion galaxy, named NGC5195 or M51b.
