The Statue of Liberty
Built by French engineers Eiffel and Bartholdi, the Statue was a gift from France to the USA.
It was inaugurated on October 28, 1886.
It represents freedom, democracy and international friendship.
Ellis Island
Ellis Island was the United States' busiest immigrant inspection station.
From 1892 to 1954, approximately 12 million immigrants were processed there.
The north side of the island is the site of the main building, now a national museum of immigration. The south side of the island, including the Ellis Island Immigrant Hospital, is only open to the public through guided tours.
The Financial District
The Financial District comprises the offices and headquarters of many of the city's major financial institutions, including the New York Stock Exchange (= la bourse) and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
The most famous street of the financial district is Wall Street.
Brooklyn Bridge
The Brooklyn Bridge is a bridge between the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Opened on May 24, 1883, the Brooklyn Bridge was the first fixed crossing across the East River.
The bridge is 486.3 m long and the deck is located 38.7 above mean high water
Ground Zero
The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is a memorial and museum in New York City commemorating the September 11, 2001 attacks, which killed 2,977 people, and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed six.
The memorial is located at the World Trade Center site, the former location of the Twin Towers that were destroyed during the September 11 attacks.
Times Square
Times Square is a major commercial intersection, tourist destination, entertainment center, and neighborhood, at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue.
It is brightly lit by numerous billboards and advertisements.
It is also the hub of the Broadway Theater District and a major center of the world's entertainment industry.Times Square is one of the world's most visited tourist attractions, drawing an estimated 50 million visitors annually.
Approximately 330,000 people pass through Times Square daily, many of them tourists, while over 460,000 pedestrians walk through Times Square on its busiest days.
The Empire State Building
The Empire State Building is a 102-story Art Deco skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan in New York City.
It was designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon and built from 1930 to 1931.
The building has a roof height of 1,250 feet (380 m) and stands a total of 1,454 feet (443.2 m) tall, including its antenna.
The building's Art Deco architecture, height, and observation decks have made it a popular attraction. Around 4 million tourists from around the world annually visit the building's 86th and 102nd floor observatories; an additional indoor observatory on the 80th floor opened in 2019.
The Empire State Building is an American cultural icon: it has been featured in more than 250 TV shows and movies since the film King Kong was released in 1933.
Central Park
Central Park is an urban park located between the Upper West Side and the Upper East Side.
It measures 2.5 miles (4.0 km) long and 0.5 miles (0.80 km) wide.
The Met
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, colloquially "the Met", is the largest art museum in the United States.
The permanent collection consists of works of art from classical antiquity and ancient Egypt, paintings, and sculptures from nearly all the European masters, and an extensive collection of American and modern art. The Met maintains extensive holdings of African, Asian, Oceanian, Byzantine, and Islamic art. The museum is home to encyclopedic collections of musical instruments, costumes, and accessories, as well as antique weapons and armor from around the world. Several notable interiors, ranging from 1st-century Rome through modern American design, are installed in its galleries.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art was founded in 1870 for the purposes of opening a museum to bring art and art education to the American people.
The Yankee Stadium
The Yankee Stadium is a baseball park located in Concourse, Bronx, New York City.
It is the home field for the New York Yankees.
It has a capacity of 50,287 people.
