Click the "Add 5 tables" button to add five tables to your classroom. You might want to do this to increase the number of learners allowed in the room or to free up extra space for small group work. You can scroll through tables with the "Next" buttons, as shown below.

Clicking on the seating arrangement drop-down menu will reveal the following list of options: The default setting for tables is "Free Seating." Selecting "Instructor's Seating" will assign students to the table groups that you initially gave to students when you created your class roster in your Workspace. These serve as default table assignments. If you have added a preset by selecting "UPLOAD PRESET" in your Workspace, you can select which one you would like to implement in a class by selecting "Apply preset." Presets are most useful for activity table arrangements, different from the default table arrangement (instructor's seating). You will also be prompted to choose from a list of all presets you have uploaded when you select this option in the app. If you select "Save session preset," you will be able to create a preset from within the app. This preset will save the current seating arrangement for future enforcement. Selecting "Random Arrangement Table size" will randomly redistribute participants across tables in group sizes (1-10 participants) of your choosing.

Selecting "Switch to lists view" will allow you to view student seating without the table icons. It will display the names of all students seated there rather than just their profile icons. To go back to table view, simply click the icon again, which now reads "Switch to tables view."

Click on the student search bar in order to find where students are seated in table view or located in gallery view. The search bar will auto-guess student names and then highlight their table upon clicking. Under lists view, it will highlight their name as well.

Selecting "JOIN" while hovering over a table will allow you to temporarily hear, see, and interact with members of a table. When you join a table, your video feed will disappear from the views of all participants not seated at that table. Instead, it will be replaced by "Raise hand for instructor." When you join a table, your "TABLES" tab on the right side of your screen will automatically show the video feeds of all participants seated at that table. You can leave a table by selecting the "Leave class" button that appears at the top of your screen.

Click on this icon to make your view full screen. Note that you still have access to your toolbar at the bottom of your screen as well as your "Tabs," which originally appeared on the right side. You can collapse your video as well as your tabs by selecting the "Collapse" icon. Finally, note that you can still switch to galleries, table, or tablemates as your primary (full-screen) view because you still have access to the "MY VIEW" menu at the bottom of your screen.

In the table, you will see your tablemates.

The "Notes" tab will open a space where you can write your class observations. You can take screenshots of a presentation and then annotate them. You can also download your notes during class. These notes are stored in your Engageli authenticated classroom and are time stamped.

Clicking on the "CHAT" tab will bring up the space where you can send direct messages to students, your table, or the entire class. The dropdown menu is where you can choose the recipient of your message. You can upload documents to chat and download chat history. Chats are deleted every time you log out.

By clicking on "Q&A", you will be able to open the Q&A thread for your class. Here you can post questions, download the thread and answer other questions. The Q&A thread persists between sessions, which means you'll be able to see the same questions throughout your course.

Click on this icon to exit your classroom. Students will be able to remain in the room after you leave, similar to a physical classroom.

Hovering over the "Record" icon will reveal the following list of options: Clicking the play icon will start recording the class. You can also click pause in order to pause the recording at any point throughout the class, reserving the option to click play again. NOTE: you can only make one recording per class. This means that as soon you click the stop icon, you will not be able to replay a recording for as long as your are logged in. Recording links are emailed to you directly after class, and students can access them automatically from their replay rooms.

Clicking on "START" on this timer will allow to enter minutes and click a "start" arrow. You can then toggle the up and down arrows to add or subtract minutes as well as pause your timer.

Clicking on your "MY VIEW" menu will allow you to toggle between primary views from the following list: Selecting "Class Gallery" will take you to a view where you can see the video feeds of all students. In this view, you have access to video feed drop down menus for each student. Below are the options that you have, which include turning off their camera, muting, sending a private message, or blocking. Selecting "Instructor's Video" is an option you do not have access to logged onto Engageli as an instructor, but students do! They'll get a large view of your video feed. Selecting "Tablemates Gallery" will allow to see large versions of the video feeds of students seated at your table, should you choose to join one. Remember, however, their video feeds will also appear in your "TABLE" tab on the right side of your screen. Finally, selecting "TABLES" will take you back to table view, as shown as the primary view on this interactive image.

There are a few important tools to highlight in the Menu drop-down: Hear tables while on podium in table mode: When learners are working in groups at their tables (class in table mode) you will not hear each individual table discussion. If you'd like to do so, you can choose this option. Alternatively, you can join tables if you want to speak with smaller groups of learners. Mute all students: Use this setting to mute all students in the class. Enter help center: Click here to visit our Support page.

Click on the "Settings" icon in order to pull up a menu where you can toggle your audio and video sources. Clicking "ACCESSIBILITY" will reveal the following options: you can mute everyone in the classroom (all student audio in gallery view as well as your table should you join one) and enable closed captioning for students who broadcast to the class if you also enable this option on Google Chrome.

Clicking this icon will toggle off your video feed. You can toggle it back on by clicking again.

Clicking this icon will turn off your microphone feed so that no one can hear you. To turn it back on, simply click the icon again.

Clicking "Share Screen" icon will give you the option to choose a Chrome Tab, window, or application to share with the entire class. Your primary view will automatically turn into a view of your screen share, and you can end it at any point by selecting the red "Stop sharing" icon that appears in your preview at the top right corner of your screen.

Click on "QR Action" in order to initiate a quiz or poll during your presentation. Make sure that your poll is correctly formatted. For example, a single-answer multiple-choice question should have the following form: You will be able to view live results according to a real-time pie chart. Once you toggle on "Share Results," students will no longer have the ability to participate in the poll but will be shared the anonymous results of the poll. Toggling on "Lock Answers" will continue student access to polls, but they will only have one chance to answer the question, meaning they can not change their answers upon choosing an option.

Selecting your "Actions" menu will reveal the following list of options: Clicking "Show clips" will allow you to choose a video clip you've uploaded to your workspace to share with your class. You can also paste a YouTube URL. Students will not be able to speak during video clips Finally, clicking "Distribute Documents" allows you to choose from a list of material sets that you have loaded into your workspace. These are links to share Google documents that, when "uploaded", will become the main view for students. They will be able to edit them directly from their browser application.

Clicking your "Direct Students To" menu will reveal the following options: This menu allows you to control what student primary view is.

  • Directing student view to "Class gallery" will switch their view to see gallery view, where they can see the video feeds of all students in the class.
  • Directing student view to "Class share" will switch their view to any student screen share that is happening class-wide.
  • Directing student view to "Instructor screen" will switch their view to your screen share.
  • Directing student view to "Instructor's video" will switch their view to a large version of your video feed.
  • Directing student view to "Miro whiteboard" will switch their view to the editable Miro whiteboard, should you have pulled one up for the class to collaborate on.
  • Directing student view to "Panel gallery" will switch their view to a panel gallery, should you have created one.
  • Directing student view to "Tablemates gallery" will switch their view to see large versions of the video feeds of those students seated at their table.
Note: students will still have the ability to switch their view after you apply one of these options; they are not locked.

There are two main modes in Engageli. Room Mode: This is the default when you enter your Engageli classroom. This means that as the instructor you will hear the audio feeds from all learners, and they will hear each other, regardless of where they are seated. When to use: class discussions, lectures, announcements, etc. Table Mode: When you enable Table Mode, learners will hear only their table mates and you will only hear learners who raise their hands. When to use: small group discussions, projects, and other table activities You can easily toggle between the two modes.

Note that you still have access to your toolbar at the bottom of your screen as well as your "Tabs," which originally appeared on the right side. You can collapse your video as well as your tabs by selecting the "Collapse" icon.
