CITY
Singapore
Singapore is a highly urbanized city-state in Southeast Asia, located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula between mainland Malaysia and Indonesia.
"Its equatorial climate offers lush vegetation, which is found in the heart of the island of Pulau Ujong. Despite this, Singapore is densely urbanized.
In this "garden city", the quality of life is exceptional. Contemporary architecture blends harmoniously with the vestiges of past centuries

Two decades later, Raffles College and the King Edward VII College of Medicine were merged to create the University of Malaya (University of Malaya) on October 8, 1949. The objective of this merger: to give the Malayan federation and Singapore the capacity to train high-level academics and civil servants.
1904
In September 1904, Tan Jiak Kim led a group asking the Governor of the British Straits Settlements, Sir John Anderson, to establish a medical school in Singapore. Mr. Tan, also then the president of the Straits British Sino-British Association, managed to collect 87,077 Staits dollars, including $12,000 from his own pocket. On July 3, 1905, the medical school was established and called the Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States Government Medical School
In 1960, when Singapore's independence was taking shape, the Malaysian federal government and the Singapore government decided to modify the statutes of these divisions to make them separate universities. In 1961, the legislator published a text establishing the University of Malaysia from the Kuala Lumpur division, while the Singapore division was renamed University of Singapore on January 1, 1962.
In 1980, the government expressed the desire to have a single and powerful body for university training and research, while promoting the use of the English language. The University of Singapore and Nanyang University were then merged in 1980: the National University of Singapore (NUS) was born.
