Our students' opinions matter

1) I have multiples social media accounts like Snapchat, Twitter, Discord and more. It is important because you can interact with everyone and have a lot of activies but too much can be dangerous. On social media, most of the time Im just talking with my friends and I'm having fun. Having a account or not on social media does not make you normal or unnormal. 2) I like watching Youtube Videos because it is divertising and fun. I don't really have a favorite influencer. Influencers are pretty nice because they are most of the time here for divertisement but they need to be careful because they can give bad opinions to people very easily.

We asked our students if they have accounts on social media, if so, which one, why they had chosen these media. We also asked why is it important to be on a social media, what they do on them. The questions were also related to watching YouTube Videos, why they enjoyed them. Finally we asked about influencers. Here are their answers

Students' corner

Nowadays, teenagers spend a lot of their free time on social media. Personally, I mostly use Instagram and Tiktok. In my opinion, social media is beneficial because we are able to communicate with our friends and people all around the world easily. Although this is very helpful and useful, it could also be extremely dangerous. We shouldn't spend too much time on our phones/computers because it might have a negative effect on us. When it comes to the importance of having social media, I believe that it's pretty essential because technology has made a huge impact on our everyday lives. However, some people prefer not to get involved too much and I completely respect that. I rarely watch YouTube videos so I don't have an influencer that I look up to. But it's true that influencers have an effect on how people, especially youngsters, feel. Teenagers, in fact, try to imitate their favourite influencers or even follow the trends they do. Sadly, they tend to feel bad about themselves and, as a result, have a low self-esteem. On the other hand, many people feel encouraged to follow their dreams because they admire their role models. So, to conclude, I think that influencers could have both positive and negative impact on people. Everything depends on how each person feels about it.

1) I have lots of accounts on the social network such as Snapchat, discord and many others. I chose c est media because they are the best known and everyone has them. It is good to have a social network to discuss or keep informed with others. I discuss and share videos with my friends and for me having a social network is good but some people tell me the opposite. 2) I like watching YouTube videos because it distracts me and informs me of new things in the world my favorite influencer and Le Parisien is a newspaper that now makes videos on YouTube it's like a newspaper but in video I find it better because for some reading a newspaper is very long whereas in a 2 minute video we already have the most important of a newspaper, for me it does not really influence me because even if they do their advertising on YouTube is that it effluences me on the fact of buying newspapers or subscribing to their channel because yes YouTube brings in revenue if we have a minimum of views.

Social media is an important thing in our lives. Every single day we use it on our smartphones and that's why we have to learn how to deal with the internet. But we don't think it's a must everyone has another opinion.

Simone Schwarz

I have only WhatsApp. I think it is not a must to use lots of social media accounts. I mean it is more important to keep social contacts in real life and to have more time for active things like sport. For marketing social media is very useful nearly a must. But privatly I think it could be funny. Everyone must decide on their own about using social media accounts or not. For me I found out that I don´t want to use so much time on social media like Instagram so I only use now WhatsApp. Sometimes I hear songs on YouTube but I don´t watch videos of influencers in the last time. The same reason why I don´t use Instagram anymore. I want to spend more time with my friends, have more time to learn, read, make music or be in nature.

Sabine Burkart

I have only Whatsapp but I like to chat with other people . But I also like to meet friends in real life.

The social media I use most are Instagram and Tik Tok. Nowadays, almost all teenagers spend a lot of time on social media. Through the various platforms that exist on the internet, we have the ability to communicate with people from all over the world. Of course, although social media is useful, it also has many risks, so anyone who spends a lot of time on it should be quite careful. So for some people social media is quite helpful and useful and they prefer to use it, while others do not. I also enjoy watching videos on YouTube about things I like. I do not have a favorite influencer, but I like to watch videos with comic content. Ζωντανή μετάφραση

1) I have some social media accounts like WhatsApp, Instagram and Discord. I chose them because they're fast ways of keeping in touch with friends. The most important thing that social media allows you is the possibility of communicating with close people instantly. I use social media to talk with friends and classmates, but I usually don't publish personal things. In my opinion, nobody is strange for not having a social media accounts, although most people believe that it is unusual. 2) I enjoy a lot watching videos in YouTube about things I like, such as videogames. I don't have a favourite influencer in YouTube, although I find the YouTube channel Leyendas & Videojuegos really interesting. I also watch videos of other Spanish Youtubers like ElRichMC, Rubik and Folagor03. They have influenced me by introducing and showing me new videogames. They are useful because they can distract you when you're worried or bored.

1-Yes I have several accounts on social media networks like instagram, snapchat and tik tok. For me it is important to have social networks because nowadays we can know everything thanks to the networks. On social networks youcan do a lot of things, each network consists of something, but in general you can post photos and videos, make stories ans talk to others. I don't know if it's not normal to have network account. 2- Yes , I very rarely watch videos on Youtube when i'm bored. No, I don't have a favorite influencer.

Hiba - France

Yes I have account on YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Tiktok , Instagram And Discord. I choose these media simply I like them. It's important to be on the media to be able to decompress and stay informed of what's happening in the world. I'm just hanging out on it I'm talking with someone. No people do what they want if they don't want to be on the networks it's their choice. Yes I like to watch videos on Youtube I relax, my favorite Youtubers are the Wankil Studio duo, He does not particularly influence me in my life. Yes they can be useful by making us discover new games of new literary or cinematographic works

How do influencers influence you?

Influencers

They make regular posts about that topic on their preferred social media channels and generate large followings of enthusiastic, engaged people who pay close attention to their views.

Influencers in social media are people who have built a reputation for their knowledge and expertise on a specific topic

SECTION 4

How to protect ourselves from the dangers of the Internet

e-safety

The use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature.approximately 60% of children who use social media have witnessed some form of bullying

Cyberbullying

Phishing is the use of emails that try to trick people into clicking on malicious links or attachments. These can be especially difficult for kids to detect because often, the email will appear to be from someone legitimate, like a friend or family member.

Phishing

Many children post in public view personally identifiable information (P online, for example in their social media profiles. This might be anything from images of awkward personal moments to their home addresses or family vacation plans.

Posting Private Information

These days sexual and other predators often stalk children on the internet, taking advantage of their innocence, lack of adult supervision and abusing their trust. This can culminate in children being lured into dangerous personal encounters IRL.

Cyber Predators

Some dangers of the Internet are:

Online Gaming

Children might fall for scams that offer things they value, such as free access to online games or special features. Young people are easy marks for scams because they have not yet learned to be wary. As with phishing, cyber criminals can use sites popular with children to identify potential victims, and then promise prizes in return for what they want—like parents' credit card information.

Falling for Scams

Sexting is the act of sending and receiving sexually explicit texts and pictures to one another. It is believed that 40% of teenagers have sent sexually explicit messages, and around 20% have sent a nude or partially nude photo of themselves to someone. Teenagers need to be educated about the risks of sharing these images as they can have a lasting impact on their future. Talking to your kids about sexual values and morals is essential.

Sexting

Video games are increasingly played online these days, and there are some dangers associated with it. More than 80 percent of children referred to themselves as ‘gamers’, and around half of those play online. However, only 47 percent of online gamers are playing with people they know in real life. It is important to make sure that you lay down some rules about gaming, including not allowing webcam use and making sure that their screen name is not their real name.

Everybody should be very careful while using social media. We should have a strong password and not trust people we don't know on the Internet

The best advice that I cant give to you is to change your password every year and don't put personal information in it, for example, your pet's name, you should put an aleatory combination of numbers and words.

Be careful.

The only advice I can give is to pay attention to small details scam sites are often filled with inconsistency

You should never share private or personal information widely. If I were you I wouldn't accept cookies. I don't recommend having tones of followers, unless you want to deal with fame.

Our students give us some advice

Be careful.

Don't give personal information and don't post pictures that could damage your image.

Everyone knows that you have to be careful with the internet and social media. Some tips would be to use different passwords, don't open suspicious links, don't talk to unknown people, protect your identity and use a good antivirus.

Don't believe everything you read. Double check the things searching on reliable sites. Or talk to persons that you think are reliable. Don't give away too much information about yourself, like address, phone number, birthday. Use safe passwords.
