AVID 9 had a busy month of December. Students have been refining critical reading strategies, learning about habits of highly effective students, identifying the most effective ways to study, and working in collaborative study groups. We will be starting off the new year by setting a new year's resolution smart goal along with creating our 2022 vision boards. Students are working hard to improve/maintain grades as semester 1 comes to a close.

It's a new year and I could not be more proud of the work the AVID sophomores have done this year. The students recently completed a college profile project. They virtually toured 4 colleges and created a profile of things they like and dislike in perspective schools. Many of them realized that they prefer a large school or a small school, some are wanting to travel out of state where others would like to stick close to home! It has been a fun journey! Although we aren't able to get on campus at the moment we are thankful to still get an opportunity to see many schools from our classroom!

With the start of the new year, AVID 11 is ramping up its ACT preparation. The juniors are learning many tips and tricks to help them navigate the exam and are about to start taking practice exams. We will get into a quick routine of spending parts of each week focusing on different sections of the exam and building test-taking confidence. As the semester comes to a close our AVID Juniors are going to work to make stress their friend and finish the semester strong.

AVID Seniors have finished applying for colleges! They have each been accepted to multiple schools and are in the beginning stages of scholarship applications. Seniors are also learning about personal finance and how to responsibly budget their money. It is an exciting time for these kids!
