Present continuous expresses progressive actions happening at the moment.

present continuous

You-we-they + are

  • You are having a blast.
  • They are stuying in pairs.
  • We are watching a movie.

He-She-It + is

  • He is eating cake.
  • She is staying at her parents'.
  • The dog is chasing cats.

I + am / I 'm

  • I am working right now

Be : am / is / are

It's auxiliary verb is the "verb to Be"

Subject + to be + not + verb -ing

Examples:

  • I'm not sculpting, I'm painting.
  • They are not stuying in pairs.
  • She's not watching a movie.

negative form

The negative form of the present continuous tense results quite easy to conjugate

Is he working right now?

Example:

  • He is dancing right now.

  • You only need to invert the possition of the subject and the auxiliary

Are you working right now?

Example:

  • You are working right now.

Auxiliary : am / is / are

Interrogative form

Is she smiling?

He is frowning

He is not doing anything

What are they doing?

She is saying hello
