Whites and Petit Blancs vs free colored people- Whites and Petit Blancs felt uncomfortable and enraged at the fact that the people of colour were able to live amongst them and even own slaves and plantations. People of colour felt inferior because no matter how rich they became, they were still discriminated against by the whites.

Slaves found it unfair that they had to be working in harsh conditions and not even get paid for it they were also looked down upon by everyone.

Petit Blancs- They were not allowed to be educated and didn't own much wealth and were not as respected as the grand blancs.

Grand Blancs This group was not allowed to pass laws and were only to do mercantilism ( the trade system between mother countries and her colonies). Also they were only allowed to produce raw materials and were to only send their produce to their mother country.

Free Blacks/Mixed race- This group had a set of rules that applied to them. These sets of rules were called the Code Noir or black code. They could not go to the same theater as the whites and couldn't sit in the front pews at church beside the whites.They also couldn't wear some type of clothing and were not to be called Mr and Mrs.

Slaves They were allowed to own land or anything else, had no rights and an were robbed of an education. They also were not allowed good living conditions.

Frenchman, African born, Colonists, Petit blancs, grand blancs, monarchy, republicans, free coloured, mulattoes, slaves FrenchMan - A man who is of French descent or birth. African Born - A native member of any of the African countries Colonists - An inhabitant of a colony Petit Blancs - The poor, white underclass of St.Domingue. They hated the grands blancs because they had to compete with them economically Grand Blancs - The most economically prominent people of St.Domingue. They were the wealthy upper class of society. Monarchy - A form of government with a sovereign head of state. Republicans - The political citizenship of a place that is considered a republic Free coloured - Black people who were no enslaved or under harsh rule Mulattoes - A person who is biracial, mixed with black and white ancestry. Slaves - A person who is he property of another, being forced to work.
