Wireless Area Network
What is a Wireless Area Network?
Wireless Area Networks are networks that connect devices together and to the internet without using wires and instead making them connect wirelessly broadcasting to each other using devices such as a WAP.
Downsides of the network?
Exposure to attacks such as piggybacking which allows unintended users to be able to access your network allowing them to be able to view private information if your network is not secure enough.

Wireless Snifing

Connected correctly
Another disadvantage is Wireless sniffing which puts your sensitive communications and transactions in danger as sniffing tools could be used to obtain sensitive information such as passwords or credit cards .This happens when public access points aren't secured and lack of encryption on the traffic. To avoid this makes sure all access points use WPA2 encryption
Finally a huge part of this network is to make sure that your devices such as routers and access points are located correctly as if they are not it will not work probably as if a device is out of range it will be unable to connect to the network.

Benefits of the Network
Wireless Area Networks are a reliable sort of communication and are easy to feature or remove from a workstation. They reduce the need for physical wires meaning its more economic and easier installation.
