The American revolution (1775-1783)
The French revolution was caused by an economic crisis, because of bad harvests. while the king Louis XVI was enjoying plesures, the bourgeoisie was paying unfair taxes. That's why influenced by the enlightment, they started a revolution against the monarchy, lead by Robespirre, who after was consumed by his own power and that kill him. First was the Constitutional monarchy were the powers were separated and there was national sovereignty. But after, the Convention started, without control of the power, the people drove crazy and the Jacobins and the Girondins answered with terror. Finally the Directory, were Napoleon Bonaparte rises to the power.

Was one of the first bourgeois revolution. The thirteen colonies were paying unfair taxes, so they fought against the british autorities for their freedom. In the "Boston Tea Party" (1773) the relations bettween the colonies and the english rupture. Then in 1775 was the American war Independence, but wasn't until 1783 that would be recognised in the Treaty of Paris. After that a constitution was created (1787) with George Washington as their first president.
The French revolution (1789-1799)
Napoleon Bonaparte (1804-1815)
Napoleon Bonaparte was an emperor who conquer most parts of Europe. In 1804 he proclamed him self emperor of France. He conquer many parts of Europe like the Iberian Peninsula, Italy, Belgium, etc. He tried to conquer Russia but he failed. In 1815 he was finally defeted by the English in the battle of Waterloo (Belgium). Although he was consumed by power, he made various reforms, like creating the first civil code and give equal rights to the people.
In 1830 many countries like France, Italy, Belgium, Germany and Poland had a revolution Were they wanted unification, separation or independence in which only France and Belgium were successful. In 1848 France, Italy, Austria (minor nationalities) and Germany had another revolution but only France could succed.
Liberal revolutions (1830-1848)
The enlightment (17th and 18th centuries)
The enlightenment was a range of ideas that its main aim was to create a better society relaying on human resoning. There were many enlightenment thinkers like Hobbes, Locke, Montesquieu, Mary wollstonecraft, Voltaire and Beccaria. Inspired by the enlightenment, they started to cuestionate the power of the monarchy and belived everyone deserved equal rights and education. There also was the enlightenment despotisom were some monarchs wanted to make reforms but still keep their absolute power.
