How to Behave in a ConcertThe success of any concert, whether for a rock band or a symphony orchestra, depends on the behavior of the audience. A rude audience, or even just a rude audience member, can disrupt the concert and compromise the experience for everyone else, audience and performers alike. While your behavior should vary widely depending on the type and atmosphere of the specific concert you're attending, there are some key points that should guide your behavior for every concert you attend. This behavior will create the best experience possible for everyone involved. Read on to learn more. STEPS 1Dress appropriately. What you should wear varies greatly with the type of concert you're attending. For example, wearing a tuxedo to a rock concert will make you look and feel just as out of place as baggy shorts and a ratty, old T-shirt at an opera. Do your research if necessary or talk to more experienced concert-goers to figure out what you should wear before you show up.2Be seated before the concert begins. Come at least fifteen minutes early to guarantee that you can arrive, claim your ticket, and find your seat well before the concert begins. If you do arrive late, then never seat yourself during a performance. Wait for the break in between songs, or for when the Emcee takes over, and only enter the concert hall or performance space when guided by an usher.3Follow all rules or guidelines set up by the concert organizers. Find these rules on your ticket or program, or ask an usher if you have questions. For smaller performances, there will often be an announcement at the beginning clarifying any rules you will be expected to follow. For example, many performances allow photography as long as there is no flash, and most prohibit video recordings.4Keep your cell phone switched off or on silent.Having your cell phone ring loudly in the middle of the performance is a great way to disrupt the show and infuriate performers and audience members alike. Don't let this happen: keep your phone on silent, or better yet, turn it off completely. Being disconnected will also allow you to focus more on the music and enjoy the concert more fully.

  • Texting or otherwise using your phone during the concert is also very distracting. Your phone's bright screen is perfectly visible to anyone sitting near or behind you. Put your phone away and don't look at it until after the show.
5Make sure children behave properly as well. If you are attending a show with a small child, discuss concert etiquette before you arrive and make sure they follow these guidelines throughout the performance. Keep them from talking loudly or running around during the show. Some concerts do not permit kids below 4 years as they may not be able to endure the concert sound; check with concert organizers before bringing young children.6Show your appreciation with applause. It can be tempting to whoop or holler to show your appreciation for incredible performances and creative geniuses. However, this is out of place at many concerts and will be taken as rude. Restrain yourself from shouting, stomping your feet, chanting, or making other loud and disruptive displays. Instead, stick to polite applause. For a spectacular performance, you can augment this with a standing ovation, but for the most part simple applause is all that's necessary.7Show respect for the performers. Respect should be evident everywhere in your behavior, from sitting quietly and attentively during the performance to applauding politely afterwards. Make a point never to speak rudely or abuse the performers or their performance while at the concert. If you were unhappy with a certain element of the performance, keep it to yourself, or discuss it calmly and maturely with a close friend after you leave.8Try growing your concert experiences. Keep concert brochures, souvenirs, and any such concert materials and enhance the collection. These materials can help you remember and appreciate each concert you attend, long after it's over. Long ago in Poland there was forests and people lived in small village. In one of them, on the bank of the Vistula River, lived a young fisherman, Wars. He was very hardworking and always came home with a net full of fish. Wars liked spending his time on the water very much. One night, after he had cast his nets, a beautiful girl emerged from the water. The fisherman froze with delight and stared in amazement, because the girl had long golden hair, big blue eyes and ... a fish tail! It was a mermaid/siren, half woman, half fish! Suddenly the siren began to sing, she did not know Wars was seeing her. When Wars heard her voice, he fell in love. From that moment on, he couldn't focus on anything, waiting for the next night catch and meeting the mermaid. One night, he stuck his head to get a better look. Surprised by the sight of him, the mermaid swam up and, in anger, asked: - Why are you looking at me? - I'm a fisherman. I fell in love with you and cannot live without you. - I love you too - said the mermaid. - But we're different. Then a mermaid named Sawa remembered a secret: if she fell in love with a man with reciprocity, she could become a woman forever. Then Wars asked Sawa to marry him, and she agreed. They went ashore together. Legs appeared from the siren in the place of the tail. She became a beautiful girl and their wedding soon took place. Wars and Sawa lived happily ever after. Years later, a large fishing village was built around their hut, and people called it Warszawa (Warsaw). Today there is no trace of the fishermen's huts, but people still remember the young fisherman and the beautiful mermaid. And Warsaw became the capital of Poland.

The legend says that the dance of fairies above Blue Lake starts during the full moon. It is believed that the one who dances in a fairy dance kolo will cross the border between the worlds - to become a fairy. Many people wanted that and lots of young lives were lost in the depths of the lake. Once upon a time, during the early dawn, a young man decided to go to the lake. There he saw a beautiful girl in the the shade of pines. It was a fairy. During the fairy dance she did not notice the dawn approaching so she was left alone at the lake. She knew that the dazzle of the sun undoes the fairy magic and that just one touch of the sun rays would turn her into its reflection. Abandoned and in fear, the fairy was hiding and didn't realise that the young man saw her. However, he recognised the sorrow in her eyes and decided to help her. Sheltering her from the sun, the young man led her to a cave located by the lake. The fairy remained there waiting for the full moon – the time when moonlight would illuminate the lake and she would dance again and hence return to her world. But young man fell in love with her and decided to do everything to become a part of her world, even to do the fairy dance. One night, while the fairy was still sleeping, the young man noticed the moonlight shining upon the lake and the water stirring up. He ran to the lake hoping this night his dream of becoming a fairy would come true. Unfortunately, he tripped and fell into the lake. He disappeared into the depths of the lake. Soon the dance and singing started and the sleepy fairy headed to the lake. She was happy to see her sisters fairies, but she looked impatiently for her lover. However, dark clouds covered the sky and moonlight illuminating the surface of the lake soon disappeared together with the fairy dance. The fairy was left alone again. Completely heart-broken, the fairy waited for her loved one, but nobody saw the young man anymore. While some believe the fairy stayed in the darkness of the Fairy cave, others think that she let the first sunrays to touch her.

LOVE STORY

Long, long time ago, in the Dubrovnik's countryside, sheperds took their sheep to pasture. In the shadow of the Srđ hill and where the cold river Ombla flows. That's where our story starts. The most handsome sheperd Arion fell in love with the prettiest girl called Aretuca. Aretuca was beautiful sheperdess from respectable family, she would always rise her head with pride. She was aware of her beauty, so she asked for more than Arion could offer her. While Arion was showing his love to her, she ignored him, though he didn't lose his hope. He sang lovesongs to her and often tought if they were somehow connected. He was thinking how everything in nature is related - stone, water, air and dirt, so he imagined him and Aretuca to be connected in the embrace of the nature they both came from. But, his wish did not come true and Aretuca still ignored him. Four seasons passed, but Arion's love didn't fade. One day he couldn't take it anymore. He prayed to forests gods, he wanted Aretuca to become stone, just like her stone heart. When he finished his prayer, the sky went dark and it started thundering. Aretuca ran in fear, but wherever she stepped, hills appeared under her feet; everything she touched, turned into a stone, until she became one herself. Arion felt very guilty, he tried begging the gods to give him back his beloved, but that didn't happen. So, after a lot of time, Arion went to the bottom of the hill that once was Aretuca, and hid in her caves. One day, while his love for Aretuca was growing, his tears turned him into a river - river Ombla that even today flows in the embrace of the hill Srđ. On the shores of the river Ombla wealthy citizens of an old Dubrovnik built the most beautiful summer houses that remind us on wealth that even today flows in the embrace of the hill Srđ. On the shores of the river Ombla wealthy citizens of an old Dubrovnik built the most beautiful summer houses that remind us on wealth that Arion could finally afford to his beloved.

There were once two lovers in Toledo: Diego Martínez and Inés de Vargas. These two loved each other crazily, but one day they received bad news: Diego had been drafted to the war in Flanders and they were saddened since this trip would separate them. The time to leave arrived and it took place in the chapel of Cristo de la Vega where they vowed eternal love to each other, and Diego, touching Christ’s feet promised to marry Inés when he came back. While Inés waited for her lover to come back, she prayed every day to the Christ, witness of their love for each other, asking for Diego’s return. Two years later, Inés saw a group of men approaching to walls of the city. She could distinguish Diego in the front, in charge of the group. Inés shouted thanking heaven for bringing back safe and sound her Diego. But when he saw her, he pretended not to know her and carried on walking through the streets of Toledo. Inés, quite sad, couldn’t stop thinking why he behaved like that. Diego had been promoted to captain and for sure he had changed and had forgotten his vow. She kept going in front of them to beg him with threats and tears; but he still continued rejecting her. Inés was so desperate that the only solution she found was to visit the Governor in Toledo. When the latter heard Inés, he called them both. The Governor listened to both but Diego denied having promised anything to her. There were no witnesses to prove anything. It was her word against his. But suddenly Inés remembered having a witness: The Cristo de la Vega. So the Governor decided to visit the statue of Christ to take a statement. In the chapel a judge recorded the statement of the Cristo de la Vega as a witness of the vow, using the following words: Do you swear that it is true that in front of you Diego vowed to marry Inés? After a few tense moments of silent expectation, the statue removed his right hand from the wooden cross, opened his eyes and exclaimed: “Yes, I swear it.” When the two of them, Inés and Diego, heard these words, they decided to abandon their way of life and lead a life of religious virtue.

LEGEND OF EL CRISTO DE LA VEGA

When you hear the story of Klepetan and Malena, your faith in love will suddenly reappear, regardless of your own experiences. All of Croatia has observed for decades the touching and loving relationship these two storks had. Their story started in a small Croatian village, Brodski Varoš, almost 20 years ago. Malena was a female stork with a wing injury that has left her unable to migrate with the rest of the storks. So, for almost 30 years, her permanent home has been a school chimney in Brodski Varoš, where Malena’s caretaker, Stjepan, lived. Despite the 14.500 km of distance between them, every spring Klepetan would come home to Malena, from Cape Town to Croatia. This stork traveled for a month to see his soulmate! In their beautiful love nest, they had 66 chicks and when the new ones would come, Klepetan would start teaching them how to fly at the beginning of August. When the time came, they would fly to Africa together. A year ago, in April, everybody thought that Klepetan passed away. He came back a bit earlier and didn't act like himself. That day, the storks have been rumbling and crying for about 4 hours. They found the stork they thought was Klepetan, dead. He would've been 40 already, so that wasn't at all surprising. Malena was crushed. But, because of the different personalities between the stork that was found dead and Klepetan, it has been confirmed that he was, in fact, alive! Klepetan and Malena continued their heart-warming love story. That was until the summer of 2021 when Malena decided it was her time to go. It was a big blow for everyone-Stjepan, Klepetan, their children, and in the end, for all of Croatia. Imagine witnessing our most famous love story coming to its end, twice! Stjepan is still there for Klepetan. He buried Malena in a special place, near his house that was, in fact, her home. She will always have a special place in the hearts of millions of Croatians. Their love story is the most heart-touching, tragic, but also inspiring. They were truly soulmates made for each other. So, people, don't settle down for any less. Look for the kind of love these storks had. Be the light of someone's life like Klepetan was to Malena, or Malena was to Klepetan. This special story of love and fidelity is something that everyone should strive for! Sara Aurora Kvartuč

Heloïse and Abélard: Star-Crossed Lovers

This story took place in 12th-century France. Pierre Abélard was a famous French philosopher. He started teaching in Paris and he had an excellent reputation. For this reason, Canon Fulbert hired him to become the private tutor for his niece Heloise who was a very intelligent woman. Abélard courted her in secret and they had an affair. Heloïse eventually became pregnant. Abélard sent Heloïse to his sister's house in Le Pallet, Brittany. Heloïse gave birth to their son, Astrolabe, out of wedlock. The baby was raised by Abelard’s family in Brittany. Uncle Fulbert was furious that Heloïse was pregnant. Abélard went back to Paris to appease him. He offered to marry Heloïse. This had to be a secret wedding because he didn't want his reputation to suffer (great philosophers were single at that time). Heloïse was only 18 and Abélard was probably about 38 when they got married. Uncle Fulbert divulged the secret. There were scenes between Fulbert and Heloïse so Abelard decided to send Heloïse to a convent. She was dressed as a nun. Fulbert thought that Abelard was trying to get rid of Heloise. He hired some men to attack Abelard. After this terrible attack, Abélard became a monk and Heloïse became a nun. According to history, they never lived together again and they did not speak for twelve years until Heloise learnt that Abélard had written a story about them. They wrote love letters to one another until Abélard’s death. The lovers were reunited after their deaths into a common tomb. They now rest in the Père Lachaise cemetery.
