Definitions of galaxies

A Galaxy is a group of stars, dust and other astronomical matter that are held together by the force of gravity.

The Milky Way

The Milky Way is one of the galxy we heard a lot about, it's the galaxy that includes the Solar System, with the name describing the galaxy's appearance from Earth: a hazy band of light seen in the night sky formed from stars that cannot be individually distinguished by the naked eye.

Radius: 52,850 light years

Number of stars: 100–400 billion

Irregular

Example: Small Magellanic Cloud and Large Magellanic Cloud

Elliptical

Examples: Andromeda and The Milky Way
