The Statue Of Liberty

The statue was a present from the French goverment in 1876 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the USA and as a sign of friendship between the two countries.It is a famous symbol of liberty and one of the greatest American icons.It is one of the world's largest statues, which measures in total 92.99 metres.

Empire State Building

It is New York's most famous building. It was inaugurated in 1931, by President Hoover, who switched on the lights of the building from Washington. During 40 years, it held the title of the world's tallest building. It was built at a high speed, completing it in a year and 45 days. It is 443.2 meters high and has 102 floors. You can visit the Empire State Building's observation deck on the 86th floor from where you have a magnificent view over the city of New York.

Madison Square Garden

It is also known as The Garden. There are about 20,000 people watching the games every match. It is also known as "The World's Most Famous Arena".Currently, the most important events that take place here are basketball and ice hockey matches. It is home of the New York Rangers hockey team, New Vork Knicks basketball team, which Antonio saw, and New York Liberty women's basketball team.

Central Park

Central Park was the first public park in the United States. Every path, bush, tree and lake were designed to be where it is.Central Park is 4 km long and covers an area of 341 hectares where 26,000 tres are planted and where 275 bird species coexist.On Sundays and holidays you can find more activities, outdoor concerts, and shows.

Brooklyn Bridge

The Brooklyn Bridge is a hybrid cable-stayed/suspension bridge in New York City and is one of the oldest roadway bridges in the United States. Started in 1869 and completed fourteen years later in 1883, it connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn, spanning the East River.Six months after its inauguration, a tragedy occurred. A woman who was climbing the access stairs down the Manhattan side stumbled. So, her scream triggered the rumour that the bridge was sinking as a result of this, 12 people and 35 people were injured.

Battery Park-Castle Clinton

It is a historic park located at the end of the Financial District. It has this name because of the battery of canyons which were found in the park and that protected the city in the early nineteenth century.In the centre is located the Castle Clinton National Monument. It was built in 18ll to repel British attacks. The castle took the name of Mayor DeWitt Clinton and was declared a National Monument in 1946.

St. Patrick's Cathedral

On Fifth Avenue, opposite the Rockefeller Center complex, is one of New York's finest examples of Gothic Revival. With millions of visitors annually, the cathedral is a major destination for believers and tourists alike.St. Patrick's Cathedral began to be built in 1858 led by the architect James Renwick. Finally, it was finished in 1888.
