Kaszubian Lake District is known as the land of neverending lakes and beauty:)We have a bit of mountains, many lakes and close access to the Baltic sea;)It is our little PARADISE :)

Over the last few hundred years they have been discriminated against and their language and culture have been destroyed. Poles did not consider them Poles and the Germans did not consider them Germans. In the People's Republic of Poland, they used their language only at home, because it was unwelcome in public places, and at school they were punished for using it.

Our culture

One of the remnants of the Kashubian culture that has survived in everyday life is the use of ground tobacco, or snuff. Snuff is a herb that is eaten in Kashubia even in the church.

Kashubian culture

Folk songs and dances are inextricably linked with the Kashubian culture, and they tell about the former everyday life of Kashubians. In many towns and villages, there are song and dance groups, thanks to which the Kashubian culture is still alive. In addition to the language, snuff and folk dances, the hallmark of our region is also Kashubian embroidery.

Kaszubian alphabet

Kaszëbszczé note – Kashubian notes or Kashubian hieroglyphs is a popular Kashubian counting-out rhyme.It is sometimes mistakenly considered a Kashubian anthem.It used to be sung obligatory on every wedding, now it's sung by folk groups.The soloist sings notes (signs) drawn on the board and points them with a stick.The signs make remembering the lyrics easier and show the culture and life of Kashubians.One hypothesis is that these notes were created to protect Kashubian language, which Prussian government attempted to eliminate.

It is short, it is long, it is the Kashubian capital. This is the bass, this is the violin, it means Kashubia.This is a spade, this is a pole, this is pines, a manure fork. It's straight, it's curves, it's the back wheel of a car. These are hooks [potato-digging hoes], these are birds, these are Prussian half-triples It is a yoke, it is an ox, it is whole, it is half. This is small, and this is great, these are all instruments.
