How to be a good citizen

A good citizen is someone who respects other and their property. He/she is helpful and considerate, willing to put others first. He/she listens to the views of others and thinks about what they have to say. He/she helps people who are not in a position to help themselves. He/she respects the environment and does not damage it in any way. He/she works hard.

What is a good citizen?

A good citizen is someone who...

Is respectful. A good citizen will treat their surroundings with respect. A good citizen will not vandalize. litter, or steal. He/she will also respect others and their beliefs. They will also not discriminate base on race, religion, or gender. He/she will keep an open mind and heart and will be accepting of everyone.

  • Be willing to make sacrifices.
  • Stand up for what you believe in.
  • Fight for our country's freedom if necessary.
  • Support governmental leaders.

A good citizen to do

  • Be respectful on other people's beliefs.
  • Volunteer.

  • Put others' needs before your own.

Why is it important?

The importance of all this is to make a better society, to feel better with yourself, to make new friends, to learn new things and generally to be a greater you.

Conclusion

I think that those are some of the most important ways to show your citizenship and to preserve our democratic society. Just because we are given freedom does not mean that we don't have any responsibility; rather, because we have freedom we have a responsibility.
