Synopsis

The film tells the story of seven outcast children from the township of Derry, Maine (USA), who call themselves "The Losers Club." All have been marginalized for one reason or another; they all carry some of the city's bullies' favorite "qualities" ... and they've all seen their worst nightmares come true in the form of an ancient shapeshifting predator they only manage to call "it."

It is the second adaptation of Stephen King's novel of the same name and is intended to be the first installment of a planned duology. The novel was previously adapted into a 1990 miniseries. The film tells the story of seven children in Derry, Maine, who are terrorised by an eponymous being, only to confront their own personal demons in the process.

The film is directed by Argentinian Andrés Muschietti and written by Chase Palmer, Cary Fukunaga and Gary Dauberman. Jaeden Martell plays Bill Denbrough and Bill Skarsgård plays Pennywise, the clown, with Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer, Nicholas Hamilton and Jackson Robert Scott in the lead roles.

It opened in Los Angeles on 6 September 2017 and was released in the United States on 8 September 2017. The film has grossed over $700 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing horror film in history. It has received positive reviews, with critics praising the acting, direction and faithfulness to the novel.

Filmed in southern Ontario, principal photography began in Riverdale, Toronto, on 27 June 2016 and wrapped on 21 September 2016.Other Ontario locations that were also used in filming include Port Hope and Oshawa.

CHAPTER TWO

In 1989, in Derry, Maine, after having defeated "It", Beverly Marsh reveals to her friends of the Losers' Club that when Pennywise, the dancing clown kidnapped her and left her in a trance, she had a vision of them as adults, so Bill Denbrough agrees a blood oath with his friends where they promise that if Pennywise ever comes back, they will come back to stop him and finish him off for good. In parallel, Henry Bowers manages to escape unharmed but completely insane from the tunnels and is arrested for murdering his friends and his father, and is accused of all the deaths of the children devoured by the clown and spends the rest of his life locked up in a psychiatric hospital.

In 2016, Pennywise reappears in Derry, Maine and kills a boy named Adrian Mellon after he and his boyfriend are attacked by a group of homophobic youths. Mike Hanlon , the only member of the Losers' Club still living in town, calls the other members to make good on a promise they made 27 years ago.
