The Houses of Parliament
House of Lords and House of Commons
In the Houses of Parliament, there are two groups of people – the House of Lords and the House of Commons. The members of the House of Commons are elected; the members of the House of Lords aren’t elected; they are noble people.
the building
It is a very important building in London. The building is magnificent. There are around 1,000 rooms! And there is also a clock tower. In the clock tower, there are five bells; the most famous is the Big Ben.
the Queen
The Queen is the Head of State. Every year, there is a special ceremony, the “opening of Parliament” and the Queen is the protagonist.
the Prime Minister
The Prime Minister is the head of the government. Every week there is a meeting with the House of Commons. There are questions for the Prime Minister and he answers.
