Agusan Del Norte

  • Manobo Clothing - The men wore long sleeves with pants that were tight from the waistlines down the knees. In most cases, the womenfolk wore tight close-neck blouses without collars but decorated with colored crystal beads with glittering sequences. The men folk wore kerchiefs called prong. The womenfolk did not have any headgear.

  • T’boli Clothing - T’Boli women dress in a long sleeved, tight-fitting, waist length, collarless blouse which is in plain black, dark or navy blue. Their tubular skirt is ankle length. For special occasions, the T’Boli woman is dressed in a pin-striped linen skirt. T’Boli men no longer wear traditional attire.

CLOTHING

Naliyagan is a Manobo word which means “the chosen one” or “the most loved one”. It is a weeklong celebration of socio-cultural and arts exposition of indigenous tribes in the entire Agusan valley and displaying their skills and culture through ritual activities, an exhibit of native products, ethnic games and a host of sporting tournaments and special events.

Bonok-Bonok Festival is a colorful festival displaying the Surigaonon's Tribal Culture through road moving. It is multi day-long celebration denoting the Surigao City's yearly party festivity which is celebrated each September 9.

    • Mandaya blouse (Bado) - The main fabric is red with fabric accents of either blue or black on the sleeves and hip lining. Geometric patterns of varicolored lenema (threads) and salisid (beads) adorn its front, back, and sleeves.
    • Suwat or comb - is made of wood or bamboo and again, adorned with beads and threads.
    • Kulubata (necklace) - Worn over the blouse, a colorful apron-like necklace made of beads and adorned with coins. Aside from the kulubata, there is the lusag, a choker made of beads.
    • Balikug - an earring made of four strands of beads with red thread tassel.
    • Pamullang - heirloom peices made of either white or black sea corals and are thus no longer produced these days
    • Patina - a breastplate that is worn by affluent Mandaya women.
    • The skirt is called the saya and is made of dagmay, woven abaca.
    • Pamulaylay, a belt decorated with shells and thin brown capis (braided abaca strips).
    • Tungkaling- the brass bell and coin trinkets worn around the waistband for marriageable women to be noticed, and by the Balyan or priestess to drive away evil spirits.
