In addition to assigning chapter readings, Instructors can also create their own, or use pre-created Video Quizzes and Shared Media assignments in Revel. These creative assignment types let instructors share videos accompanied by time-stamped multiple-choice questions and post and respond to videos and other media. Students can also record and upload their own presentations for grading, comments, or peer review.

Study Tools

The Study area within Revel helps students to focus their learning.

Each day they can interact with a game, or media item like flashcards. They can also take advantage of the new Rapid Review quiz feature – an adaptive, personalized quiz that will review a student's understanding on previously learned material. Rapid Review quizzes include the top 10 questions the student either answered incorrectly on the first try or haven’t seen for a while.

In the Study Sessions area, students will see a lightbulb on the days they studied. Study streak data in the top right corner of the page encourages students to visit their study area often!

Revel allows educators to monitor student progress on assigned reading, which is a good indicator of how the class is doing. By tracking reading, and having the option to make it a percentage of the final grade, instructors can hold students accountable and keep them on track.Actionable insights help instructors identify and contact struggling and low-activity students, and target instruction.

MyVirtualChild is an engaging simulation for child development courses that immerse students in raising a child from the prenatal period through age 18. Just like in the real world, students’ parenting decisions and life choices combine with environmental and genetic factors to shape the development of the virtual child.

Two simulations in one, MyVirtualLife offers profound insights into development across the entire lifespan. After students' parent a virtual child (by way of the included MyVirtualChild learning path), MyVirtualLife pivots to the first-person perspective of a virtual adult, providing a vivid sense of the impact of genetics, attitudes, and decisions over the course of a lifetime.

FEATURES FOR PSYCHOLOGY

Assignable within Revel for Personality, students can take more than 25 personality questionnaires. These provide a welcome opportunity for students to understand themselves better, as well as to better understand how they relate to others. The questionnaires also help students understand how personality scientists measure constructs in the field and how researchers compare an individual’s responses to others’ and how their responses compare to other students taking the same course. If assigned at the beginning of each chapter, students will have their results available as they read.
