Returning to class in term 4 at GISS
Welcome back!
Hallo from all of us at GISS
We are happy to welcome you back on our beautiful school grounds, where we have been preparing for a safe and fun learning environment. Our Covid guidelines have been developed based on advice from the Department of Education, Department of Health and the Association of Independent Schools.

What you need to know
November 10, Wednesday - IB exams finish, masks no longer mandatory for Primary
October 25, Monday - Secondary (5-12) will resume on campus
Key dates
October 18, Monday - Primary (K-4) will resume on campus
&
Primary and secondary students are required to wear a mask indoors unless they have a medical exemption
All staff will be wearing masks while on campus

NSW Health has asked AISNSW to disseminate the following information to schools:
- NSW Health strongly urges all students aged 12-15 years to receive two doses of either Pfizer of Moderna COVID-19 vaccines as soon as possible before returning to school.

Separation for stages
To reduce student contact and interaction on campus.
- Primary and secondary campus will be separated in stages.
- GISS Kiosk will resume 'normal' takeaway operation for staff and secondary school students (except students taking IB exams).
- Primary school and preschool will remain pre-order only and may not go to the kiosk.

- Assemblies
- School performances
- Excursions, camps and field trips

Activities that are not permitted or on hold
- Library activities are permitted in-line with Infection Control practices in place.
- Singing, band and choir are only permitted in stages.
Activities permitted with special COVID precautions
Parents may pick-up their child by foot from the Kiss & Drop Zone
There are 9 stopping bays@ the Kiss & Drop Zone
- Preschool drop-off and pick-up procedures will remain as is
- Parents may pick-up their primary school children between 3pm and 3.15pm at the Kiss & Drop Zone.
- Junior secondary students will remain in class with their teachers until 3.15pm
- Senior secondary students will self-checkout via the app

- No one who is unwell is permitted on campus
- Adults who are not double vaccinated are not permitted on campus
- We will need to see your vaccination certificate if you are entering campus
Off-campus hybrid learning
Teachers will work to include students through hybrid teaching options but we encourage families to send children back to campus.

HEPA filtration installed in all classrooms, library & staffrooms
Classroom & staffroom ventilation protocols will be adhered to in all classrooms
2x daily cleaning of high touch surfaces, including playground equipment

When in sick bay
- If students present to sick bay with cold/flu like symptoms, staff will take their temperature and call their parents/carers to collect their child from school.
- Students cannot return to school unless they have provided the school with a negative COVID test.
