What did?

is an Irish astronomer who, along with Anthony Hewish, is credited with the discovery of pulsars: neutron stars that release radio waves at regular intervals.

Bell Burnell faced difficulties because of his interest in science from childhood. The first science courses for girls were created after Bell Burnell parents filed a complaint with the school. The young woman then studied at a Quaker institute where her physics teacher.
