  • Plans or arrengements.
  • Intentions and future predictions.
  • When you can see from present evidence that something is certain to happen.

Structure:Subject + be + going to + verb (base form) + complement

  • They're going to get married at some time or other.
  • Did you see the lightning? Now, we are going to hear the thunder.
  • Watch out! You're going to hit that car.

Present continuous

  • To talk about fixed plans or arrengements.

  • She's flying to London tomorrow.

May and Might

  • To make predictions that we're less certain about.
  • To express wishes, posibility, give and ask for permission.

  • It hasn't rained at all this month. I think we may/might not have enough water.
  • It might rain later, so take an umbrella.

FUTURE PERFECT

  • Events that will be completed at certain point in the furture.

Structure:Subject + will/won't+ have + verb (past participle) + complement

  • By the year 2020, we will have given up non-electric cars.

FUTURE CONTINUOUS

USAGE

  • Future continuous is used to say that an action will be in progress at a specific time in the future.
  • Future continuous is used for an action in progress in the future which is interrupted by a shorter action.

USAGE

  • Future continuous is used to predict the present.
  • Future continuous is used for arrangements, often as a reminder or warning.
  • Future continuous is used to make polite enquiries about someone’s plans (without wishing to influence those plans).

  • In two hours she’ll be leaving work.
  • Don’t call him now, he’ll be sleeping.
  • We’ll be leaving at 10 o’clock. So don’t be late!
