Syros

Syros is a great island that has a lot of things to explore. It is also the "cats' island" because everywhere you go you see cats and kittens. But the thing is that most of them are stray; they live in rubbish bins. Luckily, people from neighboours feed the cats. Syros has a lot of old, destroyed and mysterious houses so it's cool to explore them! Finally, most people in Syros are polite and they love tourists. (text by Sofia)

Let's go for a walk in Wejherowo and discover all the secrets!

Start

Hello! I'm Jakub Wejher, the founder of Wejherowo!Explore the city, solve the puzzles and get the secret code (5 numbers!)Enjoy!

In the dome of the town hall tower there is a bell founded in 1649 by Jakub Wejher.

The old town in Wejherowo attracts not only residents but also tourists. No wonder - after all, the heart of the city beats on the market square. Apart from apartment houses, there are also important buildings, such as a collegiate church. The town hall built at the beginning of the 20th century will surely attract your attention. The newest attraction is the Historical Hall, prepared in tribute to Teodor Bolduan (the last mayor of Wejherowo before World War II) and entrepreneurs, craftsmen and social organizations that contributed to the flourishing of the city in the interwar period. The exhibition consists of interactive, multimedia stands devoted to old professions, e.g. hairdresser, banker, carpenter, watchmaker. The town hall tower is decorated with a bell funded in 1649 by Wejher. In the middle of the square, you will see a monument to the city's founder - Jakub Wejher. This is where the roads of residents and tourists converge to rest, meet friends and talk. Pubs, breweries, confectioneries, summer gardens, shops with regional flavors invite you. Convince yourself of our hospitality!

The Memorial Oak was planted in the Square of Pope John Paul II. It honors the memory of the Katyn victim - Lieutenant Maksymilian Elke, murdered in Katyn.

In the attic of the church The Holy Trinity is inhabited by a colony of the bat.

The Calvary of Wejherowo , also called the ‘Kashubian Jerusalem’ or ‘Holy mountains’ is located on a morainal hill covered by beeches. This place of pilgrimage includes 26 stations created on the initiative and funded by Jakub Wejher, the founder of the city of Wejherowo. The Calvary of Wejherowo is the fourth Calvary funded in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, which existed from 1569 to 1795. The other three calvaries are located in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska (near Cracow), Pakość (central Poland) and in the Western Lithuanian region of Samogitia. 26 Stations of the cross A walk along the 26 Stations of the Cross (4,5 km) will take 2.5. hours. You can start at the Monastery Church which is also worth visiting. The chapels of the Calvary boasts a wide variety of forms. Some religious buildings (“House of the Virgin”, “First Case of Jesus”, “Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus to carry the Cross”) are half-timbered. The Chapel ‘Jesus meets his Mother’ is a rotunda with ornaments remembering Dutch art. The baroque palace of Pilate has the floor plan of a Greek cross. There are also simple designed chapels: ‘Weeping women’, ‘The exposure of Christ’ and ‘The Crucifixion’”

Rearrange the postcard from Wejherowo!

Great! The fourth number is 5!

The fresco depicts St. Anna with Mary.

Above the entrance to the palace from the front side, there is the Keyserling family coat of arms - a palm tree on a silver background. The coat of arms can still be seen in the palace on the fireplace and at the 5th station of the Way of the Cross on Calvary - on the Chapel over the Cedron.
