Language trough songs
We choose this song because we think it is a song wich has a lot to talk about
Why we choose this song?
Theme of thesong
it was about how different his life could have been and how much happier he might have been if he had just been able to be himself. The song is neither an acapella, ballad, an opera or rock, he put together different songs in essence. It has been a hit #1 twice and after Freddie’s death is one of the longest-reigning number one hits of all time.
The tense it uses
The predominant tense is the present, but to explain the actions and how he feels himself he uses past.
types of moods in the song
- “No escape from reality” This gives us a mood because it makes you feel like you don’t belong here and that you don’t have scapatory to another one, so you feel locked up.
- “I sometimes wish I have never been born at all” It talks about someone that has depression like just don’t want to exist and that everything would have been easier without him.
- “I’m just a poor boy, nobody loves me” With this he talks about the mood of feeling alone and have no one to talk to.
the meaning of the name
- “Bohemian” in the title refers to what is known as the bohemian lifetime. "Rhapsody" is a free instrumental composition played in one extended movement so this fits the form of the song well.
Things you prob didn't know
- It contains a hidden message in the form of a confession by Mercury that he was gay or bisexual
- He left all what he had on his ex wife, who supported in every single way she could with his VIH
- There are no idioms in the song, which is wierd because queen used to use a lot of them in their songs
- The huge succes of "BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY" is due in part to 1 Dj, British DJ Kenny Everet. In October 1975, EMI was still pressuring Queen to release “You’re My Best Friend” as the first single from A Night at the Opera but strictly by accident he played the song 14 times over the course of two days. Callers flooded the radio station and local record stores with requests for the song.
literary devices
- Alliteration: - “Goodbye everybody i got to go, gotta leave you all behind”
- Rhetorical question: - “Is this the real life?”
- Metaphor: - “Caught in a landslide”
- Repetition: -“No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no oh mama mía, mama mía, mama mía let me go”
- Hyperbole: : - “So you think you can love me and leave me to die”
thank you!
